Sorry mate........looks too big.

Hopefully in future they also offer it in 40mm again for small wrists like mine (6.75), I'd buy one for sure as I also like the thinner lugs compared to the latest Sub.

SD43 Too BIG on my Wrist?

https://www.govbergwatches.com/blog/watch-size-guide/

Note the lugs reaching the flat surface of the wrist. This is the visual rule and it is the best rule to follow. This rule also Is followed by watch photographers when choosing a wrist for the watch to be photographed. Lugs should cover at least 90 % of the wrist area.
The SD43 is easily a 7” and even smaller wrist compatible.

I have Rolex watches dating back to the mid1980s and the newest from 2 years ago. All are 36mm or 40mm. I’ve tried on the larger Rolex diver watches and I didn’t like the look on my 7” wrist. I’ve tried on several Panerai models and encountered the same issue. To me, watches that simply look huge on a man’s wrist are inappropriate. Some people like that look. It’s their money so it’s their choice.

but “huge” is subjective. that’s my main point.

and what works for you - or not - may not be reflected elsewhere.

i love my friend’s OP36. fabulous watch, beautiful dial, great balance.

it feels absurdly small to me. and i usually wear 40mm watches!

my point is that it’s really up to the wearer what’s too big or too small, and in these cases when someone asks it’s mildly amusing to me how wide the range of responses is. i don’t think you or anyone else are WRONG - not at all. i just think it’s interesting why person A feels like X, and person B feels like Y. it’s a curious phenomenon is all.

You want a refine look or a badass look, my father's UTS 3000M vs the SD43 on my 6.7 wrist. Rolex made nice big watches too. All depends what look you like.

The SD43 looked to my eyes surprisingly small compared to how it looks like in pictures, I confess that I was even hoping it is a bit bigger.

This thing is PERFECTION.

Vs this. When you take a step back with your photo, the watch size can look very different.

I do feel it looks a big large. Personally, I like when the lugs sit inside the edges of the wrist.

These two shots are all we need to make our point. In the second picture the SD43 looks like a sub on your wrist.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Brian, I appreciate it!
I haven’t posted a collection pic, as it’s in a major reconstruct phase at the moment. I’m currently selling the last couple I’ve decided not to keep, and I have 3 left at the moment. I stated in another thread...I’ve basically tried everything, from every manufacturer, (within my $ limits) that I wanted...maybe a few outliers left. I had every hyped watch, all metals, etc...and I’ve decided that quality (at least my version of it) over quantity is for me.
I’ve basically started over and have two that I absolutely love, and one I haven’t decided if I’m keeping or selling yet (NIB, stickered 116334, blue dial). I’m building around the 126600 and PP 5524G, and not sure what else I want other than one YG piece, not sure what YG I want as a keeper yet (kind of waiting to see what the sub lineup does at Basel, if anything)...as I said, I’m not into the hype anymore and just want 3...maybe up to 5 pieces I love for my taste and lifestyle, not just because I can or because it’s an “it” watch to have.

it’s such a wide array of opinions, one of the great (and sometimes maddening) things about this hobby.

The watch is literally lifting off his wrist because his wrist doesn't have enough flat surface area. I don't need to see a Panerai to know this. Sizing the bracelet will help but from the photo it appears it still will not sit flat and one of the lugs will hang past the wrist.

It would bug the crap out of me, but totally up to the preference of the wearer.

That watch is bigger than you wrists...........beautiful watch but, IMHO, looks silly on you. OTOH, If it makes you happy, buy it, wear it, enjoy it!!!

First pic it looks too big. The second pic, probably the more accurate description, it looks fine.

So listen. I’m 6’2” 240 lbs, muscular build. Unfortunately, I have small round wrists (7.25”).

The SD43 and my Breitling Colt (44mm) is about as large I can comfortably go.

That being said, my wife, who’s 5’10”, 130 lbs, has an extremely flat 6.25” wrist. She literally can wear anything reasonable.

Physiology matters.

Choose what you like.
