As a high-performance sports-coupe - I like it.
Would never buy an automatic however and all the non-functional vents and scoops need to go as they mess up the styling and make it look a bit ridiculous.
I don't think anywhere else in the world is going to complain about it having ONLY 335 HP.
I actually couldn't see why it even needs a turbo. All that performance and nowhere to use it. Strictly 'bragging-rights' only.
All the cars on "The List" cost between two and three times as much here in Oz and we expect the Supra pricing to be $75 - $80K which makes the V8 Muscle-cars potential competitors, although generally the 'muscle-car boys' wouldn't be interested in the Supra and the 'Jap Sporty-coupe boys' wouldn't be interested in the muscle-cars.

The gen 1 MX-5 with pop-up headlights was super cool, the newer models got a little too serious for what it is IMO. Also pretty pricey here these days.

I have a Series 2 MX5/Miata, Bas which I think is the best all-round iteration of the MX5.
In Australia we refer to the first model (Series 1) as the NA, the Series 2 as the NB, the Series 3 as the NC and the current Series 4 model as the ND.
They are all very good models which record very high mileages without problems, and make very good buying second-hand if you shop around and know your prices.
They are a real sports car as opposed to what we are discussing here which is a performance Coupe, or the Mustang/Camaro/Dodge/Stingray which are all muscle-cars.

BMW has announced the new 500 hp S58 I6. I wonder if it will find its way into the Supra? That would be interesting.

i think fewer and fewer japanese cars are made in japan, i hope the quality holds up as in the past,

its funny, when looking at japanese cars, unless its made in japan it doesnt seem the same somehow.

They are fun little cars for sure, and indeed very reliable a friend of mine has a blue series 1 and he loves it the early ones are prone to rust though, but you probably don't have to worry about rust in Australia

I don't see the point of it.
A SportsCar with little to none of what you want in a SportsCar.

Power: no.
Weight: a lot.
Brakes: meh.
Handling: don't know but by looking at the previous points I'd say good but not great?

It's just a brand name with good quality. Like a Gucci handbag. Or Rolex.
It's nothing extraordinary.

Subjective: It looks hideous. Zero beauty, zero "rawness", just plain ugly.

The LC500 is a serious design and performance machine and Toyota could have done much better than the new Supra. A picture of my LC500.

Except it’s the other way around- the LX570 was based on the Landcruiser.

The original Supra was based on the Celica with more power and morphed into it’s own model from there.

Basing it off the LC would compete with already existing LC-F models and make it much more costly putting it into another price bracket entirely.

Seems to me the logical base to start with for this iteration is the 86 (which is the closest spiritual successor to the Celica) - problem is that this is a Subaru based model, not Toyota so they would be limited in what they can do to it.
