Question on a 6536-1

Hi everyone-

Someone sent me a PM which caused me to take a good look at my 6536-1 with a magnifying glass. I noticed the number 803 engraved on the back of one of the lugs. It's very faint and I can't get a good picture of it. It's probably insignificant but I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts about it's meaning or purpose. Thanks a lot.

Maybe an import mark????? Or maybe a personalization from a previous owner.

Hey Mike-

No, I never found anything out. It looks to me like someone did it with a hand engraver, so my guess is a prior owner or perhaps hen it was in for repair.

You might want to ask Jacek, he sold a 6536/1 with similar engravings on the back of one lug...

It's hard to tell from those pictures, but from what I can see those marks do bear a similarity to those on my watch. I will have to reach out to Jacek and see what he can tell me. Thanks guys!

Well that would certainly be interesting, but I'm guessing the truth is far more boring.

My watch is with Bob Ridley right now, so I will ask him if he knows anything about the markings.

I remember a previous thread about etchings on the lugs. Maybe it'll help.

Interesting read, thanks for posting. Unfortunately they don't seem to have come to a consensus about the markings. Mine are very similar.
