The Sub of Pams
Finally after a year of going back and forth I think I want to make the jump over to a Paneria for my weekend work (I wear an 114060, do wedding films, dress nice and with style (custom shirts, shoes ect) not like the guys you see in black pants and black polo shirts).
In any case, the Sub is a can't miss watch if your looking for your first Rolex, well I am looking for a can't miss Paneria for the purist. Would like to stay under $5000, was thinking maybe 00609, I am going to purchase new from watchmaxx as they seem to offer the best discounts for something brand new. I do like the look of Sandwich dials over painted. Ideas? steve |

What you seem to be requesting is the "Sub of Panerai" on an OP budget? ;-)
As for the 609, I think its MSRP is around $7k? Also, I think its sandwich dial is pretty shallow, with it looking like a sausage dial from a distance. Depending on your priorities, that could be a good or a bad thing. Anyway, for a Panerai "Sub", look for a 000 or 111 (or 005 or 112). 111 or 112 for sandwich. Or, if you really want the 609's wire lugs, look for a 183. If you buy lightly used, you will easily be in your budget and the watch won't depreciate. Good luck with the hunt! |

Yeah I think I need to up my budget but trying not to, lol, I don't actually like the wire lugs, maybe a 000 or 111 is the deal

I had your dilemma when I bought my first PAM. For me a sandwich dial was a must have - I love the look and it's something for which Panerai is famous. But you can't now get a sandwich dial in any of the new base models - you have to increase your budget for that. I also did not like that the new base models have a snap in case back and reduced water depth rating. In the end I went for a used but mint 111. The latter 111's, after 2006 I think, came with very nice sandwich dials. If you shop around I think you can get a 111 in your budget or close to it. It's a classic and really a definitive model. I think it's the way to go.

If your comfortable with a larger case I don't think you will go wrong with the all time classic 372.
You should be able to get a nice used one within your budget. If you want a slightly smaller case, I've always liked the 351. Good luck whichever you choose - don't forget the pics.. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk

If you don't want a base but want a classic that screams PANERAI (dude, seriously, it's Panerai not Paneria) from every pore of its soul then stump up a bit more cash and either go 372 or a 233. Both 1950 Luminor, both Panerai icons and both should be in every Panerai collection

I got the 114060 as my first Rolex and a 312 as my first PAM. I think the automatic movement, 1950 case and a date make it an "everyday" watch. I highly recommend the 312.

Stay with popular models 000,111,112,005,and buy a used one and you going to be fine, in case if you decide to flip.

Pam 48 Real or Fake ?
Can anyone help me I found this Pam 48 on the internet the price is fair however I am a bit hesitant due to the fact no box or papers and the strap and clasp is not original or by Panerai can anyone tell me if this watch is indeed authentic. It is an I serial which is 2006 model year. I am on the border of weather I believe its authentic or fake so I would appreciate some help if you are able to give me some because I don't want to end up buying a fake and as it is I don't know weather to buy it or not due to the concerns with authenticity.

I would not purchase a Panerai that was not complete with box and papers. The 000 or the 005 are both nice watches but I would go 372 or 351. Both can be purchased preowned for a significant discount.

I'm so new to this brand, all the reference numbers make my head hurt.
I love the information here on this forum. What I'll say to the OP, is that asking these guys is the right first step. |

Loving my 90 But want another model here soon. Possible the 625, 653 or 654. Any feedback on these models would be appreciated.
