The BLRO. It faithfully represents the original 6542 GMT Master with it's Blue/Red colors, and someone from 1955 would immediately recognize it for what it is. It has a function you can use and it's current WR depth rating is as good as the original Sub's was.

This particular Sub, on the other hand, with it's cyclops (added in the late 60's), blue dial, and blue bezel occupies a completely different niche of Submariner development and aesthetics , very different from the original. You would have to explain to someone from 1955 what it is. 300m WR rating is more a theoretical advantage since even divers don't use them for diving that deep.

I'd go with the one that remains faithful to the aesthetics of icon even even though though it's made of WG.

Plus, being a grownup, you really, really don't want to have anyone refer to your watch as a "Smurf". Really.

I loved both and I asked the same question. End up I chose BLRO over Blue Sub because it is newer. It was introduced in 2014.

Why not sell something and get a Platinum as your next addition?

Given your collection, if your not giving up any SS piece....out of your two picks I’d say BLRO. But either watch is a spectacular choice!!

Whoa....nice collection. My vote is WG Sub and a new watch box. You'll need another spot!

I considered the BLRO and the WG Submariner and went with the Smurf. I like the fit of the Submariner. Next time around I will try the BLRO as it is on my short list.

BLRO. You’ve got green and blue covered off but no red in that box

Hi,
Great collection. You have all sport watches why not go for the ultimate PM a Day-Date in YG?
Thanks for the great photos!

I own 2 Rolex and both are white gold.

For yourself, I’d go for the BLRO, it is simply beautiful. I guarantee you’ll never wear your BLNR again.

I love the Sub, but I agree with this post, and for exactly the same reason I'd choose the BLRO as well. Would love one myself, although, if the blue wasn't so bright, and much more of a deeper dark blue, I'd likely go with the WG Sub.
However, as others have said, you have an impressive collection of SS sports, and I agree with a few others, I think for PM, I'd be going traditional YG (or even a WG) DD myself rather than a PM sports.
I could understand trading a significant number of your collection for a PM sports, but, not adding a PM sports to such a large collection of SS sports.

In WG, I would go BLRO over Smurf. In YG, I would go sub over GMT.

Just my personal preference...you've got to go with yours.

A DD40 would be great as others have noted.

Tough choice. I like the BLRO better than the BLNR. The sub is worn a bit more because of glidelock & im a sub guy. Not really a photo guy.

The whole White Gold thing makes no sense to me at all. It would be different if SS didn’t look like the same damn thing.

Honestly, if you have TWO SS subs, why get a smurf that "looks" like SS, you know what I mean? Might as well go YG Sub with blue dial. That's what I'd do; no point in getting WG if you have some SS subs already.

I love the way the colors of the BLRO change in different lights. Smurf is almost boring to me

Thank you! Sure. The salesman at AD gave it to me because I think he felt guilty that he was unable to give me any type of discounts on my last couple purchases . Not his fault though . It’s a solid box . Brand is Wolf .
Definitely nicer than the box I had before.

Smurf is perfection in my books, but can't go wrong with either.
