vintage daytona
I was hoping to see if anyone had some thought on the value of a vintage 1964 Daytona cosmography 6241? pristine condition. Also, any thoughts of who might be the best to service the watch in the US? I have heard a lot about Bob's Watches but was thinking of using Rolex for the documentation as I don't have any of the original paperwork. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Impossible to tell value without knowing the condition. Pristine for one person could be something completely else for another. Please show us some pictures and it would be easier to help. If indeed great you have a watch worth around 80-100k depending on configuration.
You do not want to give it to Rolex as they can't be trusted with valuable vintage pieces. Try out Los Angeles Watch Works. They are partly owned by one of the worlds most reknown dealers and they have a stellar reputation when it comes to handling high end vintage watches. http://www.lawatchworks.com/

+1 for Eric - especially for verification and authentication.

Very nice cherry dial. It is indeed very valuable.
Not sure it is from 1964 though. My guess would be slightly later. What is the serial number?

Wow. Rare bird indeed. No "Oyster" on the dial AND "Daytona." You don't see many around at all. Pushers look original, as does the constant seconds subdial hand, which I believe was a little skinnier than the other subdial hands on these early models. The "Swiss" on the dial is distinctive too; bigger/fatter than you see on other models.
I'd recommend Bob Ridley for a movement-only service. Big money here. (OP mentions "Bob's Watches," but that's a sales site and different than Bob Ridley, of course.) Definitely would like to know serial number and confirmation of the 6241 ref. number. |

Thanks Roh123. I am still seeing multiple sites that still list the year as 1964. I did also see some listing it as a 1967 as you stated as well. Any thoughts as to why the variance on the year?
