Neptune 5085/1A

I have had a great many PM’s asking about my newly acquired 5085/1A, particularly asking about it’s size (37mm) compared to other pieces. It is super comfy with it’s amazing bracelet, screw down crown and contains the wonderful 240 movement.

Here are some comparison shots.

Is the bracelet removal? Would love to see it on a strap - I am personally not the greatest fan of that bracelet for more casual situations.

It is but would need a custom strap. I am considering trying one.

In my opinion, that bracelet is an integral part of the neptunes charm

I had a 5085 years ago. It is REALLY comfortable, although I needed a link-and-a-half to make it fit really well. Congrats on your acquisition!

I'm typically not a bracelet guy, but I must admit, it really works on this piece!

Introduced in 1998, it was Patek’s first complication in stainless steel (pre-dating the 3712 by 7 years). Cost new in 1998 was £7,555.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think they’re very cheap these days.

Not cheap. Possibly the least expensive steel piece containing 240 movement. Produced from 1998 until 2005.

I guess you meant Patek's first regular production complication in steel. Patek has produced stainless steel watches with complications prior to 5085/1A. 1518, 130, 1436 and 1463 to name a few. However those were produced in very limited numbers.

I was actually quoting the article so I guess the info was from Patek and yes I assume they must mean regular production.

love the look of the neptune, but half of the look is the bracelet.
