Advice on 16710 GMT Master II “Coke”
Hello TRF!
I’m on the edge of buying this GMT Master II Coke Bezel but have very little knowledge of vintage Rolex pieces. The watch I got my eyes on has box but no papers. What should I be looking for when I inspect the watch? What’s the fair asking price for the watch given it’s condition in today’s market? Do you see any red flags? It will be my first vintage Rolex Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

No red flags from what I can see. Looks to be a late 80's/early 90's example with the original tritium dial and bracelet. The crystal is pretty chewed up around the edges at 10 & 12 o'clock, though. I suspect it would sell for $6700-7000 here on the forum.

Awesome! I was worried that some of the parts were swapped. I'll be meeting up with the seller tomorrow. Pretty stoked. I'm getting it as a present for myself for my upcoming birthday! !

I don't like that cyclops for some reason I don't know. Experts, please, is everything right with that crown? I would not get it without a full inspection at a repair shop where people are used to work on Rolex.

Cyclops looks correct to me. Magnification looks to be around 2X in photos which I've seen in crystals from that era.
Crown looks correct but slightly odd due to poor lighting. It's probably okay. Dial looks like late-'80s / early-'90s as mentioned above. Insert looks correct for the age. I don't see any red flags, either, but obviously would want to inspect it in person before signing off on it. Chances are it's going to need a service sooner than later so bank on that being part of the overall cost. |

Congrats. Bracelet looks like it's on backwards though. Crown tip on clasp should be pointing towards 6 o clock. Easy fix, pop pins off, turn around, back on - with care not to scratch lugs.

If you haven't switched back the bracelet or just pop it off again and tell us what the letter is on the serial #(letter will be first) at the 6 o'clock position .
