Well done you! Sweet car to be sure. Enjoy!

FYI, When a 49 state legal car comes to CA. it only has to have more than 7,500 miles on it and it has to meet the federal standard not CA's. Learned that bringing in 8.1 liter (496 ci) Chevy's in.

Beautiful, great to see a car that get's worse mileage than my BMW V8 TT 550i GT......

Be prepared to add oil, lots of oil, aside from being able to watch the gas gauge drain down, do any performance driving, or lots of city driving, and the iDrive system will be popping up saying, "Add a Quart of Oil at your earliest convenience".

Congratulations!

Probably the best sounding engine BMW has ever made.

There will be a time when you have to do the vanos on those motors so be on the look out for that!

I wish BMW would go back to these roots where the M was so special!

If not properly cared for, these cars can be a nightmare so when I saw this basically new example, I knew that I had to have it.

I had to fly to the other side of the country to buy it and it took over a month to deliver it, but I finally have it and the wait was well worth it.

This car, along with the E9x M3 is the last of its kind. With the big push for higher MPGs and lower emissions, car companies are now forced to use tiny engines with forced induction. Even BMW M cars are following this trend. The new M cars are fast as hell, but nothing beats the feeling and SOUND of a naturally aspirated V10 screaming at 8000+ rpm.

This car gets truly awful MPG (Happy Earth Day, btw lol), but it's totally worth it.

Have a great Sunday, guys.

Wes
You are 100% correct the new M engines are lacking character. I miss my e92 M3, my F80 does not sound good at all. The v10 start up on the M5 is awesome! Great color choice, and nice pickup with the low miles.

Truly one of the best V10 out there. This car caused a phenomenon on all of the motor magazines and TV shows when it was released. Congrats on a wonderful find...

There is nothing like that NA V10, and frankly, it's the best Motorsport engine ever designed and produced, if not the best NA engine ever made in the world. The sheer power out of that engine, is truly frightening. I went on a death ride many years back when the e60 M5 was released and I swear I thought I was going to crap my pants. Never was so scared with the sound and raw power of that car. You made an amazing decision and bought something so rare to find. I cannot even express how excited I am for you!! Enjoy that very special ride. PS, have you ever seen Clarkson's review on the e60 M5 on Top Gear when it was released? Best video review EVER!!

Edit: PS the SMG is the only correct transmission for that car. The manual was rubbish... and the only reason why BMW released a few was folks who couldn't let go!
Totally agreed with the S85 being the best engine BMW has ever produced! The S65 and S54 are a close second, for sure!

Regarding Clarkson's Top Gear review, I am almost embarrassed to say that I have probably watched the review 100 times, if not more. I love how for most of the review, he makes it sound like the car is a big disappointment, but as soon as he hits the M button, everything changes. I know that Clarkson exaggerates a lot, but to an extent, he is right about the car. Around town, driving at low speeds, it's not the greatest car, but once you're on the highway, it's a totally different story. :)

Just too bad you have speed limits on the highway

I'm a 10min drive away from unrestricted autobahn sorry, had to say it

Fun car a mate had one, can drain a tank quickly given they don't have a big tank for the power involved, but a lot of fun doing it and gas is cheap in North America compared to Europe.
