I don’t know what to really make of it. The overall market is down about 1.5% today so that could be it. I did buy some Scott’s Miracle Grow today it was down about 16%. I think it’s a good way to play this space too.

My thoughts are the same.

A long slow burn. If I had more balls, I would dump a lot into it today.

I am fully confident that in the long run, this industry is just going to grow.

The issue is not whether the industry will grow, it will. The question is whether current valuations make sense or whether they assume a level of growth that is not realistic. There are lots of factors that could severely impact growth and profitability, and many of those are unknown at this time. As there is more visibility on these unknowns, pricing will be refined. Whether that is up or down is only a guess at this point.

SMG is a much less speculative way to play this space for sure. But it won't double in a week like some of the others.

I have only 4k in my investment. I'm a quarter down so thats 1K down.
I wanna pick up more but that would be out of my comfort zone at this time. The market has been bearish for the last couple of days especially in the Pharma industries but I assume thats going to change soon.

Would APH and HYYDF pricing down because of dilution due to recent acquisitions and financing deals?

http://www.marketwired.com/press-release/-2245222.htm

I would have thought locking this financing deal would have increased HYYDF price?

Whole industry is down so maybe another reason? Not too concerned with it...locked this until later this year either way...now i definitely can't sell!!!

last year dipped a lot harder than what we have seen thus far.

you have to contend with a lot of guys day trading and setting up their stops etc. There isn't enough insitutional money involved yet to create stability i guess.

There are a lot of big news events coming up but i guess since they are a couple or a few weeks out some guys are taking profits and spooking the market a bit.

it would have to tank another 20-25% still for it to be as bad as last year. Im playing with a large cushion of house money now so i'm really not worries about it.

US legalization seems inevitable at this point and there are lots of international markets opening up too. hold strong and dont over-extend yourself.

What a brutal day today for the Pot Stocks. Bitcoin as well is getting clobbered. Aphria is said to be pulling US operations.

Aphria potentially offloading U.S. ops is actually a good thing. Their ownership was holding them back. Several ETF could not include them in their holdings in the fund because of their U.S. exposure. However, now they would be able to benefit from inclusion in the ETFs, so when the ETFs take in investment flows, the ETF can buy their stock, putting upside pressure on it to raise the price.

Hate seeing them down, but was using this decline to add to my position. Takes some serious courage to run into the burning building but it is where the real money is made, if you can stomach it.

Though the sector and stock has gotten clobbered this week, it has transformed itself into a major global player in the last 4 days. I like the stock a lot better down here with licenses in Italy, Spain, Germany, etc. (all significantly larger markets than Canada alone) than at $19/share selling primarily into just Canada. Think about that transformation vs the now less expensive stock price.

Well I am officially 'all-in' last bit of trading account in APHQF at $13US.

I was hoping February would shine brighter than January.
Certainly not a good start.

This will be fine. Can you imagine a reversal in the Cannibas movement and momentum worldwide?

fall baby fall :)

if APH and Weed keep dropping i may have to get rid of my bank stocks... APH at $15 cdn is pretty yummy. It's pretty clear that as soon as it's legit to do so these guys will absorb LHS into APH at the first opportunity, as they just did with Nuuvera.

Quebec, in general, is expecting to purchase around 50MM grams in 2018 and 150MM grams for re-sale from Quebec domiciled LPs, of which there are only a handful, including Hydropothecary and Canopy.

There is no doubt that this is a major advantage. I still expect that somebody may scoop up Hydropothecary at some point either later this year or next year when their 1.3MM sq ft expansion is completed and fully operational.

These are frustrating days to be cannabis investors, but having another bite of the apple at these lower price levels is very welcome as stated by “Bing240SX”. I now hold an awful lot of Aphria again at an average cost of around $13.90/share in my main account (having already realized about $1MM of profit from lower cost shares at much higher prices in the beginning of January when spiking above $18.50) and Hydropothecary at an average cost of $3.40, but may add more on any further weakness.

Stay the course Gents (and lady), as our day in the sun (no pun) will come again soon enough as we edge closer to the late Spring/Summer period. There is no putting the Cannabis Legalization Genie back in the prohibition bottle now that States/Municipalities/Provinces/Countries have already gotten a nice taste of budget balancing excise tax-derived revenues. It’s inevitable at this point, albeit a bumpy ride. Hey, who’d have it any other way?

If you haven’t already, you may want to subscribe to: http://420intel.com

AND check the Weed Newswire daily for specific company news: https://www.weednewswire.com

Being located in Canada, Bing240SX can probably suggest other high value cannabis newsources as well. Good luck all!

This. Admittedly, yesterday was brutal but I am holding strong given the above. I really think these will set new ATHs before 7/1/18. I plan to hold longer than that, though.

The only part of this that is really bothering me at this point is that I thought seriously about pulling everything in the 1/20-1/22 time frame (with intention to reenter once stable) but I ultimately decided if I am going to hold this as planned I shouldn't try and swing trade it down. Dumb! We're dropped 20-25% since then so I really wish I had sold and was coming back in at these levels.

Cannot confuse the story with the stock. The story -- that growing legalization/decriminalization across the world will lead to a new large and growing industry that will take share from alcohol companies and cigarette companies. Absolutely true. But you are not investing in the story you are investing in individual stocks. And these companies face numerous hurdles to justify these valuations. Not to mention all the bought deals they have done selling convertible securities, with anti-dilution protections, which provides a massive overhang over these stocks. There are massive headwinds that will not be solved magically on July 1. At best these are trades where you play the volatility.

Some articles that identify some of these headwinds:

The sky is falling again this morning. Time for me to finally jump in. Thanks for the cornucopia of information and the motivation to invest, gentlemen of this thread.
I actually opened a TD Ameritrade account and I am investing in stocks for the first time in my life. Good luck to all!
