Daily wear Rolex vs Panerai

Curious of what others prefer for daily wear. A Panerai GMT or BLNR. And why?

The reason I asked is because I owned both and spend way too much time contemplating which one to wear every day before getting ready for the day.

BLNR.

Simply because I much prefer that watch to your alternative and the BLNR is incredibly versatile for nearly any situation.

BLNR because of proportions.

I have a BLNR and looking at the PAM 335. I think PAMs look more unique, but Rolex is probably more durable.

Easy algorithm for me: if long sleeve shirt then BLNR, if short sleeve shirt then Panerai.

BLNR, though I think both are perfectly suited for an everyday piece.

BLNR per my taste..

When wearing Panerai I gravitate towards the plain divers or radiomir without complications.

I've had both GMTs, and both are perfectly fine for every day. Flip a coin.

Here are the 3 watches that keeps me contemplating every morning. The Daytona is reserved for special occasions and weekends.

Fun watches though - real cuff busters

I much rather wear a GMT or Daytona over any Panerai.

I've since (very) long sold off any Panerai I had, it was fun for a while.

Why did you sold the Panerai?

Every time I put on the Rolex after wearing a Panerai and the Rolex feels very small. Especially the Daytona. Is the trend now to wear a big or small watches?

I think a luminor on a black strap is more versatile than most sport rolex, but that's just me :)

I love both my PAM and Rolex. I agree with an earlier post about how new PAM has lost their way... but I still love my older PAM. The dome crystal and sandwich dial still speaks to me.

For me I alternate my sub and PAM for casual and use the daytona and sky dweller for more special occasions.

Several years ago I sold my Panerai 233 to fund a Rolex GMT purchase. The 233 is high on my list to repurchase in the future! It was a great daily wear watch.

I have an older PAM176 (44mm titanium) which I like a lot. I enjoy the strap collection and simple dial. I have had other PAMs with in house movements that caused me trouble but the basic Unitas movement has been reliable and highly serviceable.

I wear my Panerai in rotation. There isn’t a set occasion when I would wear a rolex or panerai. Not that I can think of...

Out of curiosity - why is the daytona reserved for weekends and special occasions? No weekday love for that piece??

Daily wear Rolex vs Panerai

I go through the same issue almost everyday. I’m still missing my Tudor LHD, Omega Hodinkee, Omega Ultraman and my Pam 305
