Would love to buy the blue version. However, difficult to find, and gray market prices are just silly.

Retail is $600 and you can find for under $800 on eBay ... would hardly call this silly .

Have both. They are fantastic.

They definitely need to update the strap on the green though. The blue wasn't great either, but the strap that came with the green was possibly the worst I've ever seen.

I don't think anybody gets the Alpinist for the strap. Just swap it out. It's a known thing.

Someone asked about the size of the Alpinists. They are 39mm. Here is a comparison with a 36mm 14270.

The SARB017 has gotten a great deal of use in its five years. The 8 year old SARB013 (in production for approximately 2 years) I reserve for special occasions. The Explorer has taken the place of the SARB017 as my all of the time watch.

Morning all! I'm new to the TRF, so please don't hesitate to let me know if i'm posting in the wrong place. :-) I love the alpinist and have been hoping to get my hands on one of the new releases in January 2020 - specifically the SBDC093. Not much information available online and most info I find tends to suggest that this ref is a limited release in Japan.

Does anybody have any intel on when the new Alpinist line will be available in 2020?

Do we know which references will be available in the US market?

Any general thoughts on the new releases v. the SARB017?

Thanks all! ;-)

don't know about USA but my new green reference should be delivered in the next 2 weeks so I would guess the same time scale for USA?

got a useful 15% off but still £550 delivered with all taxes included

differences I think are:

cyclops on a white not black date wheel
6R35 movement over 6R15 so power reserve up to 70 from 50 hours
display glass back
AR coating on the inside of the front sapphire
better quality leather strap
deployment clasp not pin buckle
"diashock 23 jewels" on dial replaced with Prospex logo as the new one is part of that lineup
crown is not signed

will post with photos once I get it

sorry we get the green and ivory on leather straps and the black on the bracelet through Seiko dealers

there is also a champagne dial with gold tone markings on an olive green leather strap with deployment clasp but I believe that is a limited model that can only be ordered on line from Seiko direct

Thanks for the info.

If you don’t mind me asking, did you order the green reference online from a dealer in Japan or in the UK?

Also, the champagne dial on olive is the one I’d really like. Been watching seiko’s website pretty closely and it’s still not available to purchase. We’ll see.

I ordered from japan initially but cancelled and went with uk dealer (jura watches) as the delivery will about the same time, they are all made in japan anyway I believe, warranty will be effective whilst the import will not be and the price of the watch was less anyway (esp with 15% off) and I would have had £150 to pay on the Japanese one in import duty and VAT

all in all a no brainer

they all look nice - but I have been looking for a green watch for ages so it had to be that one this time - if you cant get the champagne dial the ivory one looks nice on the 2 youtube vids I have found so far

I also ordered the green dial version from Jura Watches today!

Not sure if these are already in stock or if we will have to wait a few weeks for delivery.

not in stock - I live chatted with a helpful assistant called Josh - he phoned Seiko UK while we chatted and he was told one to two weeks for delivery and I ordered and paypal ed on that basis - I guess your delivery will be similar hopefully

Almost bought this. Waiting for the white dial and silver numerals.
Priced here at NZD 1400.00 or USD 930.00

It's just all about health, happiness & family. The rest are just necessary inconvenience we have to deal with.

does anyone know if the strapcode bracelets designed for the older models will fit the updated version?

Hey All,

Can anyone recommend some nice straps and bracelet for the SARB017? I've got one, but absolutely hate the strap.

Thanks!

Where did you get a black alpinist? I had no idea this existed
