Trying to figure out this mismatched Oyster Precision, a Speedking that isnt

So, here we go, I'm normally an Omega/Heuer guy, but have a few Rolex.

I picked up this little (30mm) Oyster Precision the other day. The case is older than the dial. Case is a mid 40s ref 4270, crown appears original or at least correct, just signed Rolex Oyster horizontally, with a 60's ish T-Swiss-T dial. Judging by the overall state of the watch it has been this way for a long while. I am assuming swapped out in period. However, I cannot for the life of me find the actual 60's reference it would have come from.

It is basically a Speedking dial, but is not marked as such. I can find similar with date, and similar as Perpetuals, the same but larger (32mm) but none in 30mm.

There is one almost identical combo, mid-40s case with the same dial and hands on Chrono24 (Search Rolex 4444 and you'll see it, I'm too new to post links), which leads me to think maybe this was supplied by Rolex as an in-period replacment dial. Thoughts?

Dial is definitely legit (knackered crystal makes it look a bit funny, but out of the case it is lovely).

Think it's a 6430 service dial from 1962 onwards.

Thanks Paul, yes it is identical in format to the 6430, just without any Speedking. Did the service dials omit this then?

So after a careful inspection of the inside caseback service marks under my microscope, there are two that I reckon could be Rolex ones.

One is R64.7. 35 assuming 1964, the other LO (London) 8.74. 80394 (assuming 1974). Either of these would tie in neatly with the age of dial, if in fact it is a service dial. Another is OC 8 69/47978.

Wouldn't it be awesome if there was some sort of archive of work undertaken at service centres......

I think you have a very cool watch there. I have a 63 Speedking and I enjoy it very much. It's light and out of the way when wearing it.
