Rolex OP39 black or Sub 16610 which one is a keeper?

Hello, i`m new here and have a question to the community.
I`ve purchased my first Rolex OP 39 black face in April 2019 new from AD and couple of weeks later i`ve found good deal on Sub 16610 from 1997 (serviced in 2014, working/looking perfectly) which i have also bought. Under the circumstances i have to stick with ONLY ONE Rolex for the moment and can`t decide which one should go and which one should i keep for myself, i love both!
What would you do? I`m a 40+ male working in office with not so much sport activity, maybe a bit cycling and hiking, but i`d love to wear a watch almost all the time. Any opinions would be highly appreciated.
P.S. One more option coming to my mind - to sell both and get one Explorer 39, what do you think?

You should not be doing this at all. Buying watches from an AD or a dealer and then considering to sell them shortly after is a recipe for depreciation. If you sell both your OP and Sub for an Explorer, you’ll lose about 3 to 4K on the bid ask spread to a dealer, and potentially pay above retail if you want an Explorer 39MM today without waiting.

I don’t know your circumstances but I’d do nothing if were you and keep both watches and make sure to not buy a watch looking to sell it a few months later to avoid financial hits.

OP as you bought it new from an AD, its a stunning watch. Explorer sounds like a compromise which are always temporary

Sub all day for me. If it was an Explorer I and a Sub then it'd be tougher.

Both are nice. Personally I find the bracelet from the 5 digit Subs uncomfortable, so I'd probably either keep the OP or trade for an Explorer 1.

It depends on if you want the rotating bezel. I like to time things, so the Datejust and Explorer I didn’t work for me.

Unpopular opinion: having owned the explorer I prefer the OP.

You can’t go wrong with either one!

Do you want/need a date?
I've had an OP39 blue -gone now for a dj41. Have had the 16610 for 8 or so years and it stays forever.

Sub would be it for me as it's the perfect one watch if you can have only one.
I would choose the OP over an Explorer too.

Personally, I've decided to keep both. If I was forced, though I guess I'd keep the Sub over the OP.

Sub. And it is not even a question IMO. OPs are very nice but they are just an accessory to the Sub in a collection. You keep both or just the Sub.

Shame you bought the OP, the Sub would’ve been great on its own. Now you’ll lose money whichever you decide to let go of. Done the same thing myself in the past.

God that is a hard one since I am in a similar position. My first rolex was an OP39 in black. So there is a special sentimental feeling I have towards that watch. But I cant lie, I have thought about selling it to fund a sub. From a practicality stand point, the sub will hold its value much better. The sub will also get more cred from fellow watch lovers. But the OP39 will probably last longer? especially the bracelet. those 16610 bracelets are straight garbage. Plus your gonna lose money reselling that OP, thousands of dollars at that. So Im gonna say keep both if you can. But if you cant, sell both and get an Explorer 1.

You've only had both watches for a couple of months. Take some time to figure out what Rolex you really want to own long term. You may find it wont be the Explorer I, The Submariner 16610, or the OP. Flipping watches at a loss when you're undecided can be costly.

Having said that, I have both of those watches. I'd keep the Submariner.

I vote for the OP!

In that shot you posted (I know I will get "flamed" for this) in my opinion, the OP looks like it packs more punch than the sub.

Specially, since it is new, you can use it for a couple of years with no worries!

PS: I myself enjoy riding my bike, and hiking with my DJ

I seems to me you probably prefer the sub. Otherwise, I'm not sure you would have purchased the sub so soon after the OP.
I'd personally keep the sub, then maybe add an Explorer down the road (assuming that's what you want).
I would not sell both to buy an Explorer. That said, I do own an Explorer I but I chose that over the OP.

On this forum you'll almost get 98% voters for the sub...They're not wrong tho but ultimately you go with the one that really makes you happy.

Sub. Why? Well number 1) has a date, 2) bezel allows for measurement of elapsed time, and 3) last bond watch.

Thanks for your input guys. So far the sub is leading with 16 votes against 6 for OP, and also there is 6 neutral comments or suggestions to keep both. it were also few really wise advices, thanks for that.
At the moment it`s a sub for me too, i think, just because i think i was really lucky to get it at very low price point (comparing to what i see on the current internet market) and it`s just like new, even the bracelet looks and feels excellent with no stretches or big wears. I understand that if i flip Sub the loss will be less or even none, with OP could be a 1k or so, but i see them on high demand now too (black dial i mean).
i`ll try to keep both now and see what happens next. I really got instantly attached to both pieces by different reasons, besides, some mentioned that OP compliments Sub in the collection, and may be it is a really solid base for a beginner`s collection.
just thoughts, thoughts...
