Sure go buy a $2500 bottle of LouisXIII Cognac as a warming present for your future "relationship". Bribery just for the privilege to buy a stainless steel watch. What a joke.
People are broken, there just watches.

In he old days I would have said building a relationship is 100 percent the way to go. However, now I think many ADs play games and try and get people to spend money on undesirables or jewelry etc to get a “wanted piece” but what is the magic dollar amount one needs to spend? $25k, $50k, $100k ? You have no way of knowing and they can still decide to give a desired watch to whomever they want to.

just don't give up. I'm sure you're competing with AD owners who have 100 family members and personal friends who are on his "real" list :)

If I own an AD, i'll give it to family first and then VIP customers next, and then regular customers. Sorry, but families do come first :)

Nope, I’m using my own experience as a reference point. And I’m no newb either.

Fair enough.

But you quoted him and said “this proves”. And realistically, based on your comment above, you are using your own individual experience.

Mine is the exact opposite of yours.

I’d imagine neither my experience nor yours proves anything. I’d imagine there are a lot of factors involved with each and every transaction.

As i was taught at a very young age.....there is always someone bigger, stronger or is more rich than you. Never let what you have accomplished get in the way that someone more powerful exists.

Agreed.

And yes I should have written “OPs experience corroborates my own”.

I certainly identify with his plight the most, although secretly wish I was on your side of the fence.

Set your expectations with what is going on in the market. If your AD had the watches and had taken care of the big spenders and VIP's you would get a watch or two. But that is not the case now so you should continue on. Don't drop a relationship with this AD just because they are not meeting your time line for purchases. You have a buying history, which means a lot, and they are an AD. If locally owned and the owner is in the store why not have a direct and polite conversation with him/her and see what they tell you. If the owner is not local then follow this course with the manager without offering offense to the salesperson you are dealing with. Spend some money on other items such as watches from other brands that interest you, pens, strap, etc. You get the point and get in the store every week or two. Also, don't make this personal. These people are not your family, friends, loved ones or even close associates. They are providing a service for a fee and you get merchandise. Good luck and stick with it. In the long run you will get the watches you want, just maybe not from where you thought.

Lake investing, it's always good to diversify. Find 2 or 3 other ADs and spread the love :)

I'm sort of here as well.

I wouldn't dream of giving any AD a gift, if I don't get the watch I want because of it, then so be it.

If I am going to lay out 10 grand on a watch, to be honest, I'm the one that should get the gift, not the other way round.

i dont have, and neither want, a relationship with an AD, smacks of taking it all way too seriously.

try more than one AD

I have been visiting more than 1 AD and got called for sub date and then a no date for another AD, visit regularly, spend some money there now and then and make yourself visible. Hopefully they will call you for a good piece like ss Daytona, hulk, batman, pepsi and so on
