Looking good! Best of luck finding the polar 16550 yo are hunting for!

I've been on the hunt for a very specific black dial 16550 to go with my cream dial. Many years of looking but so far I have not found it. I plan to hunt until I find the one!

I’m ever so close to getting my 226570. It’s like a unicorn in my eyes. Two years waiting and searching.

Hi Larry,

may I ask which year your polar dial hails from, as I want the SEL bracelet and drilled lugs.

Many thanks,

Dan

Incoming! Picked up one from Tony G (justrolexes) and I couldn’t be more stoked! I had the 42mm version, but was too much for my wrist.
The 40mm is like a completely different beast, it’s understated yet seductive, tool-ish yet elegant, flies under the radar yet has a real presence. All I can say is…it’s an enigma.

So just to add to this if I may : )

It is from my understanding that Rolex may have produced SEL (bracelet) capable watch cases as early as 1993/4 but still used the hallow end links until early 2000s. Now I’m only speaking on behalf of the 16570 and not sure about others Rolex professional models.

Just as an example here, my 16570 is from 1994 and has the laser etched case that can accommodate the SEL 78790A bracelet (that I purchased from Rolex a while back).

That said, you can have the SEL bracelet with the tritium dial/hands and lug holes, which IMO is the ultimate tool watch ; )

Cheers

I am quoting this thread because I currently own the 216570 in white and waiting for the 226570 in black. So I will (hopefully) have the same combo :).

Good life to all Explorer II fellows!

Super cool!

Say, I have a blacked-out 16570 that weights, watch + bracelet, 124 grams. Would be able to weigh yours and post back?

Thanks in advance...

IMO the black dial 16570 works incredibly well on a Rubber B strap.

The Enigma. The longer I have this watch the more passionate I feel about it.

It’s about to go up in the Sierra Nevada to do the John Muir Trail. (I will return to this thread with some pics)

Keep this tread alive!!!

I miss my black F series 16570 every, single, day. I miss it way more than the Batman i had before it. We learn the hard way i guess. Very fortunate to have a new Explorer 1 on my wrist but one day maybe I’ll right the wrong… just don’t tell my wife.

After a couple months of hunting, in 2022 I found a
NOS circa 2010, complete set 16570 Explorer II black dial.
3186 movement... not the 3185. Such a minute difference in movement but I just didn't like the wiggle when changing the hour hand with the older 3185 movement.
Unlike some people, the engraved rehaut was just an extra bonus for me.
All stickers intact, and every single accessory present.
It's a shame I can't share the pic but now, the watch has all the stickers taken off...
not a single scratch or ding yet but looking forward to giving this watch some love :)
I just couldn't get used to the newer explorer II because they wore more like a 44mm rather than a 42mm, felt too bulky for my wrist.

16570 is my fav rolex!:) Glad I found this post!
