What size watch for my wife

My wife wants a datejust for her birthday. I am trying to decide between a 26mm and a 31mm. Her wrist is 2 in. across. Does anyone have any experience with this issue?
Specifically where you bought one size and she wished she had a different size? She needs reading glasses almost all the time so that has me leaning towards the 31mm. I appreciate any advice!

My wife started at the small lady DJ and is now up to 40MM Rolex Sports watches and even larger GS watches. Seems many ladies have moved on to larger watches. So maybe, think about looking a bit larger than that.

You may want to measure the circumference of the wrist.

My ex wife always felt she needed a ‘dainty’ ladies watch, maybe 28mm or less.

Then I got her a 32mm, and now she thinks she can go as high as 39mm.

I think that might be too much, but she’d definitely be able to pull off a 36mm at least.

I now think the thickness matters much more than the diameter.

36 for my wife. 39 would be pushing it

Ann insists her DJ at 26 is the perfect size for her. Seems tiny to me. She has very small wrists.

It really depends if she likes larger or smaller watches. If its not a surprise, just ask her. If you plan on surprising her, I'd lean towards the 31mm as well. It's still not a huge watch and can't imagine that it'd look disproportionate to her wrist size. Classy watch, and a nice gift indeed. Good job!

My wife alternates between watches, but I've seen she most often goes for her SARB033 (38mm). It doesn't look too big & she has small wrists. I think the "traditional" ladies' sizes (<31mm) would be too small. Have her go try on different sizes.

Since your already having communication about the watch...simply take her in for a fitting and let her choose.

Agree that the only way is to actually go try them on. My wife was between a 34 and 36 date/datejust and wearing them in person side by side sealed the deal for the 34mm, as crazy as that sounds for a matter of 2mm. She's also very particular about the face setup and preferred that of the date vs. datejust

Just don't let them tell you size doesn't matter

No spousal unit, but my daughter prefers 37-39mm. It seems women’s watch sizes have moved past the 50’s.

I'd just bring her in to try them on and make a night out of it. Luckily, those sized DJ's are still in stock

Make a fun day out of it by her getting pampered at the AD & you taking her to a nice meal out. For a gift that will last a lifetime let her pick
My daily is the LVc; however I’ve ordered a 29mm watch from another brand. Glad I wear bifocals. Lol

Any chance she'd be interested in a 36mm model? It's even easier to read than a 31mm and, if you ever wanted to borrow it at some point in the future, it's large large enough for the male wrist.

For a girl I like 28 or 31. It's more elegant no matter what they say.

I think it also depends on the length between the wrist and elbow. If it's on the short side, then even a 31 can look too big.

My wife always preferred the smallest watches but I got her a dj31 without trying it on first. At first she said it’s too big but after a week she said it wears great. I think 31 is the sweet spot for women unless her wrist size is 6.5” or more.

Trust me on this...seriously. You can thank me 20 years from now.

Get her a 36. My wife doesn't wear her 31 anymore...too small now. She knows what she likes...and I know 36 looks good on all the ladies.

Now, I have to go and upgrade all her 31s in the different color :(

If you tell her a 36 looks good on her, then she rather follow your opinion than some strangers online. And tell her the small watches are old fashion and outdated.

If at all possible, let her pick the size. If you guess wrong, she probably won't have the heart to tell you.

No no no....wait!! Do you KNOW the dial SHE wants?? yet seriously...
Don’t trust random strangers....just ASK HER to go with you. If gift is supposed to be a surprise don’t tell her in advance where you’re going. Sir, I’m the only female perspective so far...trust me.

We thought 34mm. Until we went to the AD. 39 OP was too large. 34mm was a little small for her. She liked the 36mm.
