my brother has a discovery sport, he says the engine seems very noisy, maybe thats just how they are.

Meh, I think the F Pace has such outdated electronics.

We looked at the F-Pace, Velar, RRS, etc. before we got a Q7 back in 2016. Velar was a bit smaller than what we wanted.....that may not matter to you. Had some cool tech when it came out (touchscreen A/C/heat controls) but now a lot of cars are starting to do that (new Audis, normal Range Rovers, etc). Macan is another smaller one....smaller than even the Velar.

I have always been a huge BMW fan....I've owned Porsches, Mercedes, Audis.....but the X5 is ALWAYS a solid car and the new one is no exception. Beautiful looking car....awesome tech....reliable...might be something to cross-shop. We are looking at getting rid of the Q7 soon and probably will go for the X5.

The latest RR/RR Sport generation actually seemed to really hold their values here. They seem to now just be coming down price-wise, or in the last year. However, there is also supposed to be a RR re-design next year, too.....so I wouldn't want to buy one now and then it's an old model in a year.

Do yourself a favor and go drive a new Q8. Make sure it's a fully loaded one though.

thats my only complaint.... infotainment is slow to load on start up and buggy..... especially after updating it for apple car play. You have to turn the car off for several minutes and restart to get the infotainment fully functional again if it faults. You have to wait a minute when you get in to use the nav.

Doesnt happen often but its annoying.

Everything else works perfectly

Pretty sure OP vehicle and the full size rover share the same dual infotainment as i dont think they all have it

^^^

In 18 months I’ve had to turn my car off two or three times to reset the bugs. Another time I drove for 10 minutes and it rebooted itself.

Mine is a 17 though, so I don’t have the most up to date system.

No too bad. And I absolutely love the thing.

i love it too. We had a road trip last weekend and "rear media not available" when we started and "car play Not available" kids were already loaded up so couldn't reboot it... three hours later when we stopped for lunch when i came back it all worked..... however it still didn't recognize any DVD we put in until two days later but at least the rear screens would turn on

the software is a weak spot

The car doubles as a wifi hotspot so at least the kids could stream on their iPads

Yeah. That would be more of a challenge. The kids and all that...

If I ever switch cars, I’m going for what you got. But I designed a few cars the other day. My favorite one continues to be the one I have. I designed a more up to date RRS and I literally had the same car.

I have a feeling I’ll have this one for a very long time. Lots of SUVs I like. But nothing so much as the Range Rover.

Nothing like a road trip in it.

On a side note the dealership took 12 hours to get the car play software installed.... then returned the car without it working. The service advisor couldn't make it work and it went back in again and they returned it again without it working, then the next day it magically worked. They charged me about $500 for the pleasure even though its free on 2019 models however when i ordered my 2019 it was not yet an option

its an absolute pleasure to drive though and the rest of the tech is flawless.... HUD, active steering, lane monitoring, cameras, adaptive cruise control, and overall comfort

*full disclosure to add to previous post

I have every single available package/option on the car so its also possible there is too much software for the system to handle so maybe its more of a issue if you go fully loaded.... and yet the DVD doesnt play blue ray, who buys standard DVD's today??.... in 2019

the rear screens are HD though

No more Rover for me. Look great, too many trips to service. I’ve got better things to do than hang out in a car dealership.

i stream everything so for road trips i did have to buy some... just a bit odd that it won't play the blue ray disc and requires the standard DVD.

My other nit pick is there is a little nook in the load space to put small stuff and NO net. they charge you like $200 + labor to put one in which is another 200

....anyone know how to get netflix etc to work on the infotainment? I can navigate to the site via the web browser but thats as far as you can get

My sister has the large Discovery, brand new just about 10 months back. It has been in the shop for 4 or 5 of those months on 2 separate occasions due to air suspension issues. Hopefully on strike 3 the Lemon Law can kick in.

Then again, a friend of mine has 2 of big body Range Rovers without issues. You never know what you are going to get!
