You did right; that's what upstanding citizens do.

I have been on the receiving end of someone slamming car door into my car, denting it, and taking off without trace. Amazing how infuriating and frustrating a minor thing like this can be.

Would you have left a note ?

We need more of you in this world. My beat up daily has about 5 door ding without a single note. I sometime wonder why I’m more cautious of not hitting someone’s car but I get ding for it.

Someone scraped the side of my new Range Rover at work one day, but didn’t report it or leave a note.

I asked the security team to review CCTV, they identified the car, and I found the driver from that. Worst thing is she reports to me, indirectly and several layers down, but still part of my wider team.

After I confronted her gently, watching her squirm was hilarious! Apparently she was distracted that day, was going to let me know, but forgot etc etc ... of course!

Just today I walked past a guy who dropped a ten pound note and didn't notice and I picked it up and gave it too him. Karma and being decent are important.

I'd probably ask HR to put a note in her file about the incident so down the road she couldn't come back with any "he stopped me from advancing in my career because I scraped his car, nonsense".

Good on you.

I took the side view mirror clean off a parked car, left a note, bought 'em a new one and installed it for them (for my sake).

I probably would have found a more spacious place to park but yes of course if that happened I'd leave a note.

The thing that would stink is if you got a claim for a full blown fender bender :)

Yes, that happened, as all accidents on the premises have to be recorded.

I have a really nasty door ding on my driver's side door from this time I went to a wake. Used to really bother me - I'm over it now, just not worth fixing. Good on you for leaving a note.

I'm surprised no one has made an Arrested Development reference... "That's why you always leave a note!"

Good on you. I saw a guy reverse into another car while parking. When he got out he walked around and inspected the damage and started to walk off. I politely asked him to leave a note. He was reluctant but I told him that I video recorded him inspecting the damage and that he could do the right thing or I’d contact the owner through the police. He left the note. Some people are real arses. It’s why I won’t drive a luxury car.

Same thing happened to my wife’s q5. One of her coworkers opened the their door, wind took it into the q5. I took it for an estimate-over $800

A couple years ago, I was at a restaurant with only one tiny spot available, and it was a parallel parking situation, with a cement wall on the passenger side. I bumped the car behind me just a bit, and got out to take a look. Definitely left a mark, but saw their bumper was already beat to hell by previous bumps. Nevertheless, looked in my glove compartment and couldn’t find a pen. Went into the restaurant and borrowed one real quick, but by the time I returned, they had driven off already!

I still feel a little bit guilty.

Good decision, If I was the owner of that vehicle, a note would go a long way in making me a bit at ease

Definitely the right thing to do. The poster who belittled the Bulova dealer would not have left one, nor would the guy who got his Pepsi in less than 2 weeks at retail and lorded it over everyone. You are a credit to the community.

I just wasted 8 minutes this morning reading that Bulova thread....I could have used it for my morning dump which would have been time better spent!
