The Hulk Looks Strange Lately...

I loved the Hulk. I had a chance to buy several but it never seemed to look “right” on me. But looked great on others.

Recently while browsing various watch photo centric video/photo sites the Hulk seemed different. Almost and I hesitate to say the word Feminine so I won’t but it gave me the vibe of a giant Emerald ring. A watch for the wizard of oz. It’s not the beefy green comic book character.

I believe seeing the modern ceramic Kermit connects with my brain in a way that for some reason I don’t see the Hulk in the same light. The ceramic Kermit just has taken over what my brain prefers to where the Hulk seems foreign now.

I certainly don’t crave one any longer. It’s a cool watch. But I think the newest edition out does the old by a mile.

It’s a cool watch but at the end info the day it’s just a green watch. I have no reason to smash the watch as I’m an owner and have had it for many years

126610 LV is sharper looking than Hulk IMO. Case dimensions are great also.

My view of the hulk hasn’t changed at all even with the new releases. I think it looks good, but not quite my bag. I mostly look to other brands for the color variety. But, I like the hulk much more than new cermit. If you are going with color, go all out, full sunburst dial, the whole shebang. The new and old cermits just don’t look good to me. The black and green don’t mesh one bit and just seems like a novelty mod like a modded Seiko or something. The full green of the hulk actually works.

I just don't find it a good looking watch. If it didn't have the crown emblem would people find it so appealing? No.

yes when the light didnt bounce off the sunburst dial is fine, hence the new black dial in the Cermit.

Personally, I don’t see the point of a black dial Submariner with a different color insert. Just go classic black.

A beautiful sunburst dial? That I can understand.

I agree. Sunburst dial adds another dimension, the way it plays with light.

I get the love of the first generation Kermit. Love how the Hulk was an evolution on that theme. The Cermit is cool too, but I think Rolex missed an opportunity to extend the lineage somewhat. Who knows, years from now, the Cermit may be more coveted. Just glad I had the opportunity to pick up the Hulk, back when they were unloved, just sitting in the case.

People either love this watch or really don't like it at all. My wife and I fall in the latter category.....while i have a black sub date and consider it an iconic, classic and timeless piece the Hulk just never made any sense to me. It screams for attention and I just don't think tool watches should do that. I just never understood the appeal of this piece....especially since the black face is just such a great watch. I have never really been a fan of two tone or gold Subs either. I have a patient who bought his sub in the 1960s and wore it in Vietnam, survived a helicopter crash with it and has never taken it off really and it still looks great with a mild patina and a shit load of fine scratches and to me that's what the Sub is about. To me the green degrades from the look of the watch and whenever I see one of these on someone's wrist I wonder if they think it actually looks better than black and bought it because they preferred it or bought it because it's rare and were able to get it. Don't understand why anyone would want a 2 tone or gold sub either to be honest with you because again I think there are watches that look better when they scream a bit and the Sub is not one of them. Like Casablanca it's better in black and white than colorized.

So yes, you can prefer one combo over another, and it's personal, no discussion on it...

But we have to stop the excuses, the Kermit is a black Submariner with a green recycled bezel, and nothing more, zero interest. People are just sheep and not very objective !

The Hulk has a forever magical dial, and just gorgeous. It's a much nicer watch with real personality and at least something special about owning it that sets it apart.

.

The Cermit is Rolex minimizing its manufacturing logistics to maximize its profits.

The Hulk was an entirely novel creation. Hate it or love it, the fact we're still talking about it says everything .

I have said it several times already, much more beautiful than the Kermit, a personality that sets her apart. Something special to own, the magic dial. Now none in steel offers it, you have to type in the two-tone or gold, haven't you noticed ?!
She is the best LV of the line. The last in historic 40mm format whatever we think or say. I think it's to be kept, it will make auction records in several years, you just have to give time to time.
There will always be people to say "it's too green" when you have to go out 25-30 or even 40K to get it!

I agree..Love my Hulk and never thought I would until I saw it in person. And most of the time when you look at the dial it looks black anyway unless you are in bright sunlight and then it has a nice rich emerald look..A Kermit and a Hulk rolled into one.

Black subs are boring to me,had a few and sold them (everyone has one) The Hulk is unique and I don't see many around and I like that..I have also spent a lot of time on and around the ocean and the water a lot of the time looks a shade of green to me,so the green sub works.

The release of the 2020 model 'Kermit' has only helped to solidify the 116610LV as a true classic. The dial is something to behold, photos and videos cannot do it justice.

The new model retains the worst feature of the old model (pastel colour bezel) and pairs it with a standard black dial just like the rest of the range.

My only thought, the green dial will be back for 2023 anniversary...anything else and this makes no sense!
