"Dark side of the moon"

Click here for a recently published GIF of the moon passing between a satellite and the Earth with the sun behind the satellite (in other words, you can see the "dark side of the moon" all lit up with the Earth behind in the sun).

Well they concluded: "There is no dark side of the moon really. Matter of fact it's all dark"

There is a front side and a back side, but all sides catch some sun during the month (hence the shape of the illuminated area). We can only see the front side (it doesn't spin), so some people assumed the back side was dark.

Cool images, but I didn't see the secret base they say is on the dark side.

The moon does spin but makes a complete spin in the same time as it turns around our planet, that's why we always see one side of the moon.
