On today's episode of ripoff watch dealers - Swiss Watch Expo, Atlanta GA.

I moved to ATL a few days ago, and Swiss Watch Expo is within walking distance, so I thought I'll entertain myself and go check out their selection.

Few of the older Rolex watches were obviously polished past usable condition, and few were clear frankenwatches. But on modern pieces, they do have quite a large selection.

Prices are way higher than TRF, but that's expected given that it is a real store, not an internet seller.

But here comes the funny part. I asked what sort of trade-in they would offer me for my 15202 Jumbo. The sales rep went and asked her manager.

7000 dollars in store credit.

Seven Thousand dollars for a 15202 Jumbo. I'm sorry, but that's not even a lowball, that's an attempted robbery. She then explained how they get watches at wholesale prices and so on and so on. I simply said thank you for a good laugh, and left.
There are lowball offers, and then there are insulting offers, and then there is this.

I reckon Rick Pawn Star could even beat that offer... on his daughter's wedding day.

I will give you 50% more! Good deal yes (for me...!)? :D :D

Jokes aside, $7k for a 15202 is crazy...even taking into account reduced trade-in value due to overheads etc....

You should've said "yeah, sounds good"... Then, found an expensive watch to use your store credit on. After you pick one, you say you're going home to get your CC/check book and the box and papers for the Jumbo, and never went back.

Yep, 15k for real. It's an insane deal.

I just moved to Atlanta, and I haven't found my proper camera yet so only phone pics available for now. But it is in a solid 90-92% condition and runs well.

Only selling it to replace it with a 15400 and free up some cash to pay for some moving costs.

Exactly. I'm sure the owner of that place must be a rich, rich man if they operate on margins like that.

They would probably say it's worthless and offer to just "junk" it for you for free.

What color dial 15400 are you looking for?

I would presume that a lot of individuals who trade their watches in, do not know of TRF or what the true value is for their watch. In addition, I am sure a large part of their clientele has the discretionary income to simply not care.

Regardless, that does not make it right to take advantage of people.

Silver ideally, but I'd be open to black one as well. Not loving the blue enough to pay for the premium.
