Looking to get a white dial PAM

I've always wanted to get a white dial watch, and never thought about Panerai until I sat next to a guy on a plane wearing one. It was a good looking watch!

I'm looking at the PAM 655 and the PAM 1523. I see there are some small differences between the radioMir and Luminor, but why such the big price difference?

The RadioMir is $10000 MSRP and the Luminor is $7400 MSRP. There only seem to be a few minor differences between the P4000 and P9010 movement.

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing here?

Interesting you post this as I am just getting into the brand, and I too think the white dials look outstanding. Trying to figure out resale etc.

I really like the white dial models, especially the 1499. I'm looking to get my first Panerai, but feel I shouldn't go white on the first. Leaning towards a 323.

I've been seriously considering adding this watch. It looks like a work of art.

Generally speaking, for me, with the white dials not being as "iconic" as the black, I think I would prefer to focus on the crown guard models in order to have a little more of the Panerai aesthetic. So, I would skip the white dial 1940 Rads.

Also, I don't think the ecru lume works too well with the white dial, so I would look at the 113 over the 655 or the 1523. For the white dials, I also prefer the third hand, so I would shy away from the 113.

The 654 is another story, and the minimal ecru looks amazing, IMHO. Different watch and price, though....

If the choice HAS to be between the 655 & 1523, I MUCH prefer the 655 to the 1523, as I find the 1523's blue hand, faux patina and white to be too much of a mix....I also prefer the look of non-date for the white dials with Arabics. The micro-rotor is cool, too.

If one anyway leans towards the 1523, I would look instead at the 523 in order to not have the ecru, even if the 523 is a bit thicker.

Wrapping things up: 113 or 654 > 655 > 523 > 113 > 1523. These aren't all the white dials. Just the ones I mentioned.

I have 2 white PANERAI. 114 and 499. If you get one, you will have a great time with the straps. Here, take a look at my.

I can't tell you the difference between those two PAMs, but what I can tell you is that white dial PAM is rare and rare is a good thing for PAM in my book. :)

My 114

Same here, looking at white dials. Can a steel bracelet be used on a 44m white dial?

I have a white dial PAM 563. I went Luminor. While Panerai are traditionally black dial, the white dial is most prevalent on Luminor cases and thus has some establishment in this configuration. I also own a black dial Radiomir, so the white dial Luminor was a nice contrast. They certainly don't resell well, but I think if you really collect Panerai you should get a couple different case/dial examples.

I've been a fan of the 655 for a while. I'm a fan of the 42mm size, and I want case height as low as I can get it without giving up too much water resistance. Also, with my eyes going as I enter middle age, the white and black contrast is a big deal. If the 655 cost as much as the 1523, I'd probably have pulled the trigger by now.
