I never got the allure of the 270. Both watches have the same three barrels and give the same 10.3 days of PR. Beyond automatic winding and a bigger thickness, there's not much else to differentiate the two models.

BTW, I like your new photo, Mike. Looks like you got your brows waxed and highlighted your hair. It's a great look for a caveman. |

Thanks for pointing out all the differences first of all. I've always loved the 233

233 + DOT for me
I never saw the point of having a power reserve indicator on the the 270 dial.
Some pics... |

233 for me. I am realizing how beautiful the manual movements look when the rotor for the automatic movement isn't in the way.

233 dot dial for sure
i somehow feel panerai made a mistake on discontinuing the dot dial for the 233 the AM/PM with an additional arrow just looks too busy they should just bring back the dot dial classic |

Both great, but on my smaller wrist the 233 works best!

233
I bought the 270 in the logic that automatic and 10 day power reserve must be better then 8 (10>8!)
firstly the power reserve is the same on both watches, secondly if you're only winding it once a week, why do you need an auto the auto winding function means the back sticks out a lot more so it doesn't sit as flush to the wrist as the 233 does so i bought then 270 then wished i'd bought the 233, sold the 270 bought a 233 dot and loved it, but sold it when i moved to 47mm i really liked the dot dial, i never quite understood why the am/pm in at a level lower then the dial, but then it doesn't move |

I've had both and liked both. Just try one - you'll probably end up wanting the other one too.

233 for me as well. I like the power reserve but it makes more sense to have that complication on a manual movement. Even though I own a 171 with power reserve. Also love the dot indicator as opposed to the am/pm.
