OP, for me it’s an easy choice, between these two it would be the Sub.

I really can’t see the appeal in that dial combination on the Daytona. And I am a Daytona fan, but this one does nothing for me.

A couple of things:

- The Platona isn't happening. I used to love that watch but it's one of the most recent victims of Rolex mania and it's simply out of my price range right now. I don't ever see that one coming back down to earth, either. I also don't have the status with my AD to even reasonably request one.

- The Day/Date...I know this is the "quintessential" gold Rolex, but it's just not my style. It's a beautiful watch, but it's not for me. There are a couple of pics I see in the replies and it's gorgeous for sure, but this is a purchase where I have to go with what sings to me personally.

- So far, I think the new Sub is taking the lead...but I'm going to stay tuned into this to see what others have to say. There's just something about how that blue "pops" against the gold...
If it were possible to get from AD, how would that change your decision (if at all). Big price tag either way.

Isn't the "Platona" an MSRP of $75,000? That's significantly more than the Sub...

Agree all of the options discussed here are a big price tag.

Of the two, the Sub. If open to options, I would throw DD in there and maybe the RG Daytona or green face if you can get it. Total personal preference, but I don't like the red in the dial matched with the YG. Either way, these are good problems to have. Well done.

Also, as others have mentioned, the PM Daytona bezel is very scratch friendly... It's also my understanding that a service won't polish out bezel scratches due to the numbers.

MSRP a hair higher still. So okay, no Platona.

Anyways, I like to approach collection building top down rather than bottom up. Statement pieces get selected first, and then that drives the decisions of the ‘filler’ pieces of the collection. Since I assume the 15407 is one of they key pieces of the collection already, then color in the metal and dial become more important IMHO. Also sub gives you more robust wear with the bezel, so for those two reasons, it seems better compliment to your existing statement pieces.

Some have said it and I'll +1 their comments: ceramic bezel all the way. I've seen some ss daytona bezels after a few years and they were all scratched up. If it has to be now go with the sub. If you can wait, wait for the full YG daytona with a ceramic bezel. The PM bezel will look like crap eventually.

When they release ceramic bezel for ceramic they could infuse with gold, like Hublot have done with some ceramic cases. Looks like gold and never scratch.

Of those two the YG Sub for sure but I would go for the WG Daytona with blue dial - I think it's a stunner (not my pictures).

I like you’re way of thinking with building the collection. If possible they’d a great way to do it, I started the other way round, although
I had the means, and now am looking to move some one for more PM pieces.
