What's the case diameter on this reference?
Pictures can’t capture the true artistry of the dial, you have to see it in person, it’s really amazing. This is a US-only issue watch, and even though I live in Europe I just had to get it, import tax and all As for the size, 40mm in diameter and 12.8mm thickness.

I think that one of the main strengths of GS are their dials. Amazing artistry.

Welcome to the continuously growing GS owners club.

GS titanium is definitely harder than the steel used on my Rolexes.

I am an horrible watch owner. Love them but keep scratching / banging them. My Snowflake handles the beating way above my expectations.

I dunno, the innards aren't too shabby either.

Agree, most GS pictures don’t do the watches justice. Really need to see them in person. Great watch brother!

Thanks and it’s nice to see a well worn watch. I definitely don’t baby mine either.

Absolutely agree. With spring drive and as of recently 9SA5 movement, Grand Seiko keeps innovating in a big way, which is not something that most watch manufacturers can claim these days.

I too have been researching and drooling over these spring drive Grand Seiko watches.
I love Swiss and German time pieces, but I seem to have this mental block against the Japanese pieces as a high end watch. I say mental because I love the look and the quality, the feel, but something about Japan movt...
help me take the plunge!!!

I have always admired Japanese culture and their pursuit of excellence in everything they do, which has certainly helped me cross the Swiss-only watch mental barrier. Once you start researching into Seiko corporation & their history, you quickly realise that they are in fact a Japanese version of Rolex in that they are a vertically integrated manufacturer with a long tradition and knowhow, who do everything in-house (even growing their own quartz crystals for 9F movements!). They are true innovators too, considering what they've managed to achieve with MEMS, their spring drive movement and as of recently with 9SA5, for which they've designed a brand new escapement (how amazing is that!?).

Lastly, where they go beyond Rolex and more into the Swiss holy trinity territory, is in the quality of their finishing. Everything is PERFECTLY executed. You can look at their dials & cases from whichever angle you wish with a 20x magnifying loupe and you will not spot any faults.

Their only weakness I believe is their marketing strategy. I feel that limited editions & boutique only models are not necessary.

Take the plunge and you won't regret it.

Thank you
You seem to have my apprehensiveness pinned down.
I am going to move on a GS skyflake as my first piece.

You're welcome & skyflake is a beauty, so congrats in advance! The "art of watchmaking" is how I would define Grand Seiko in a single phrase. Google "Grand Seiko Micro Artist Studio" and you'll see what I mean.
