Time to buy non-rolex watch

Hello TRF

I have been looking at Patek and AP for the last months and reading a lot here and where i could find inspiration. I really like wearing gold (rolex GMT) and i'm drawn in that direction again, no matter what its not going to be a daily driver.

I'm not into advanced complications and travel with my SD4000.

Have narroved it down to:
5711 rose gold (aprox 50k USD)
AP 15400 rose gold (aprox 35k USD)
And perhaps
5711 Steel (aprox 35k USD)

The Price for the PP rose gold seems fine compared to the steel version. The AP is nice but not a PP and will perhaps leave an itch un-scratched...

Any thougts, pointers, suggestions is appreciatet.

Regards
Alexander

I think the 5711/1R is the best for what your looking for, and its a beautiful watch, i think next to that the 5167R is also great! i tried it before and for a weekend piece i think it works, and the extra water resistance and comfort of the rubber strap is a plus.

there are other gold pieces but i think with complications so it might not suit you. either way good luck in your hunt.

Thanks for the input. Have been looking at the 5167 but feel its a little off with a diver in rose gold. Perhaps i will pickup a 5167 in steel as a daily driver later on...

Just got a SS 5711 today and it is incredibly beautiful.
I haven't seen the 5711/1R yet, but I am sure it is even more stunning.
I DID see the RG AP 15400 in person and honestly it didn't really appeal to me.
My vote go 5711!
And the SS 5711 is $24,800 retail in U.S.

AP 15400 RG. I was looking at this last night. It's such a modern great looking watch. The size is perfect, and no one makes a better bracelet than AP.

5711R with that delicious chocolate dial would be my second choice.

Whatever you do, don't pay 35k usd for a 5711/1a. I think the RG is a good choice here.

I have seen a 15202 in Rose gold/ blue dial. Have you considered it?

Otherwise its the PP 5711 RG for me.

This is a great piece. I would also consider the AP 15202 in RG; love the RG with blue dial.

Since you have narrowed it down to just 3, the 5711R is a clear winner here. Neil's photos are simply stunning. I;m sure in real life its way more gorgeous.

I would choose the 5711 /1R if price is not an issue. That or the 15202 RG with blue dial is a stunning watch too.

I can highly recommend any PP Rose Gold model. The 5711 1R would be a great choice!

At the price of the 5711r you can also get a naut or any other PP with some nice complications, if that rocks your boat of course. You can never go wrong with he steel 5711 or any naut for that matter.
So my advice would be to go for the 5711a or a 5712 or 5726 or 5990 in the case of nautilus models. If the metal choice is the deciding point than only you can decide which one suits you best

Good luck with your choice and look forward to seeing an incoming!

Add a little to fund and grab the 5980 1R...

However, the 5711 or the AP would be excellent additions.

Look forward to incoming.

I've seen the three watches you've mentioned. I strongly go for the stunning 5711/1R. Good luck

Have looked at the 5980 r and with leather strap the price is the same as the 5711r with bracelet.... What would be the best option?

I looked really hard at both of those RGs too but in the end went for the sumptuous, silky bracelet.
