Ditto, although I don't like calling any watch a beater, the Explorer II 42mm is without a doubt a great daily and you can leave it on your wrist regardless of the work you're doing - working on cars, doing house work, outdoor activities, etc.. Nothing is worse than being owned by your own watches (stuff) and this is a watch that'll deliver and age very nicely - the more patina, scratches, dings, scrapes the better.

Yes, I have got to agree, mine is unmarked and as for wearing smaller, again, you have it spot on. I like watches to be under 42mm but this looks fine.

I have always wanted a full black watch because I think they look stunning, (yours confirms this to me) but have always held off because I saw some (not Sinn) that were scratched and didn't look that good. How is the coating on your watch please?

Thanks. So far the manufacturer pvd is holding up. I wore it 3 days in a row in Phuket in the pool and playing on the crashing waves by the beach. I've seen pictures of some with good wear, so I'm sure in time it'll lose its coating.

Mean, gorgeous, tough, watches that can rock it. Which is THE ultimate beater ?

I still have a hard time "beating" a watch that costs as little as $2,500! At the $1,000 level, on days when danger lurked, I wear my Seiko Titanium Shogun with Diashield coating. In 2 years, no scratches.

I also wear this ice hardened Damasko. Once again, after years of wearing, no scratches.

Of course, I wear my 16570 when there is a tiny bit of danger around! Haha!

Feels rock solid. I don't know if Pt can take more abuse than gold but it seems like it.

G-Shock.

Suggesting anything with PCLs as a beater is nuts.

Plexis are somewhat more sensitive to scratching but I love mine.

As for the Zulu, cleaned the bracelets ;)

I wouldn't say I'm in the position to treat any of my watches like a beater but I will say this.....id hike, mow, construct, fish, dive, row, cook, shower, turn a wrench, or just about anything else in my 42mm expii. My blnr on the other hand, I just want to look at and fondle like its a hot girl and I'm 17 again. It's kind of ridiculous. I know they both come from the same gene pool but the exp just oozes tough....the blnr....not so much....

Skx 007 has been a great beater so far.

Agreed! The Sinn Tegemented steel is neigh unscratchable! I use my 857 for all my truly rough and tumble activities, although my SubC still plays in the water.

I myself think the Milgauss leads the pack on this one.

My tool watches alternate based on what I'm doing... I have a t-touch for when I'm on my motorcycle or hiking. G-Shock for hunting or shooting, SKX007 for diving or anything around water, and a Khaki Field for general out-and-aboutness...
