Gasket Question

Hi Guys,

Not sure if this is the right spot for this. I'm normally a 16610 submariner guy so I don't know a lot about the Breitlings.

I picked up a watch I've been wanting for a while: an A13350 Blackbird. Got this from a reputable shop in NY, looks clean. The only issue I noted is that the gray gasket on the crystal looks displaced/irregular at the 9:00 position (see photos).

Is this something I need to be concerned with? I do go swimming in my watches from time to time and probably will just leave it alone if its just an eyesore or not an easy fix. Just wondering if I need to send this back to be corrected.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, that is definitely not right. is it between the bezel and crystal, or the crystal and the rehaut/chapter ring?

If the watch hasn't been serviced for a while, this might be the perfect time.

DEFINITELY worrisome. Water entrance issue for certain.
Gaskets need to be seated properly, and that one obviously is not.

This one definitely needs the attention of a watchmaker. It sure if your seller offers warranty, but regardless to how it's done, it'll be required. Keep the watch away from moisture until this is properly rectified.

Thanks so much guys! Yes they do warranty it. I’ll follow your advice and send it back to them. To answer your question BHR, it appears the gasket is squished out between the tachymetre markings of the chapter ring and the crystal. If you look at the watch from the 6:00 position, the crystal also does not sit flush with the bezel on the 9:00 side; it is raised above it, and flush at 3:00.

Thank you guys for your replies. I don’t know a lot about the breitlings so I’m glad I didn’t let this go. I don’t need the blackbird turning into a water flooded bird bath!
