I got it from Intelligentsia in LA, CA several years ago. I’m pretty sure it’s from NotNeutral. Can check when I get home.

Thanks for all the other responses everyone.

Getting better with my pours the past few months. Not sure why. Been pulling 2-3 drinks a day for about 9 years now. What can I say, I’m a slow learner

Did you know that one of the founders of Intelli lives here in Tejas?

And yeah...year 4 of stretching my milk, and am just now getting to the point where I can reliably make a heart.

Can you tell me if my Rolex is real?

Does the crown look legit?

Would greatly welcome the TRF community support for our family-run specialty coffee spot in Irvine. It's our third month soft open for coffee and truly desire your feedback.

Open from 9AM to 12PM everyday except Sunday.

Come for the coffee, stay for the conversations.

I am wanting to get started with espresso. My parents gave me these, which were gifts brought over from a friend in Italy. My guess is they are from the early '80s. Are they worth cleaning up and using or should I shelve them and look for something better or easier to use as a novice espresso drinker?

I absolutely LOVE my Moka pots!

Buy some decent coffee and use them !!

I only upgraded to a Jura machine for convenience.

When you’re not in a rush there’s just something really nice about using them IMO and coffee tastes fantastic.

I know we spend a lot of time about beans and machines, what above cups.

I really would like to find the epic cup for around the house.
1. Big enough to hold a solid 12-14 oz of coffee. Sturdy not dainty.
2. Nothing metal can’t stand the feel and taste hence no travelers. I use that when on the road and while it keeps it hot the taste is different.
3. Something that holds the heat the best. The last few ounces are always cold.

Does it exist?

Thanks! That makes me feel better. Are there good instructions online for how to use these or do you have any tips? It is all new to me. I just remember one time my parents had either ground the beans in the wrong way or they got packed in too tightly, and when using the large one there was a sudden KABOOM! When they ran into the kitchen there was espresso and grounds all over the place! The pressure had built up and stuff shot out everywhere. There are lots of rubber gaskets in each box but I wonder if they are still good after all of these years.

It’s really straightforward to create amazing coffee.

To get started, I’d pop to your local supermarket and buy a can of ground illy coffee.

Fill the funnel bit to the very top and fill the water container to the line. (No higher)

Pop it on the stove. The second it starts bubbling, take it off as it’s ready.

Don’t wash the pot, just give it a rinse.

I’m no expert but this is a really simple way to enjoy coffee.

Once hooked, you can start down this rabbit hole…

Great. Thank you! I am going to try this tomorrow.

I just found this link when I was looking up how to use this pot.

https://www.roastycoffee.com/moka-pot/

I grind my own beans for my regular coffee, so I might try that first until I can get to a store. I use medium roast beans from local roasters, and the beans sound similar in profile to what Illy and LaVazza use for their classico.

It's all in the pouring technique... Look up latte art videos on youtube and you'll see how its done. Takes a little practice but once you get it down it's not too hard.

Will do! You definitely have it mastered.

Youtube rocks. You can literally learn how to do anything on Youtube. I can't tell you how many auto repair and home repair videos I have watched! LOL
