A grail has been obtained! ALS Saxonia Outsize Date

The best kind of mail to receive is when there's a watch to be unboxed. My first A Lange & Sohne timepiece, and what an impression it leaves on the wrist! Absolutely love the feeling of completeness in my humble collection with this German addition. I now truly get it- an ALS experience is unlike any other in the watch world at the moment.

Beautiful color combination. Congrats!

Don't you just love the click of the date wheel? It's the most satisfying click.

One of my all time favorites! A minimalist design, yet with tons of character. There's nothing quite like it. Congrats!

That is so beautiful. I am a broken record on this, but I really do not understand pin buckles on any watch of this caliber...

Deployants are really just bulky and rarely as comfortable and low profile as a pin buckle. The Lange buckle is nice as it doesn't let the strap fly out when the pin is released.

The $120,000 Zeitwerk also has a pin buckle. If one is inclined white/rose deployant is $2500 and platinum is... much much more.

Congratulations! That's a great watch.

As for pin buckles, I much prefer them to deployants for comfort, history, and for the ease of seeing the movement.

I’m a deployant fan, everything on a deployant and especially a slightly top heavy piece like the Zeitwerk or Dato. So much more secure, easier on the strap and actually just as comfortable- I have my straps made to the same measurements as the Patek deployant straps, Patek seems to be the only manufacturer that realises a deployant needs a different ratio of short to long compared to a tang.

Thank you! I agree with you, tang over deployant for dress watches :)

Thank you! I think personally I prefer tang buckles on dress watches, and deployants on sports watches. A deployant on a dress watch seems out of place, and I think falls out of the traditional feel. Now a deployant and a rubber strap on a sports watch.. *Chefs Kiss* !

Thank you! As someone with average to small wrist size (6.75), this fits perfectly lug to lug and is so comfortable.

Thank you! The black window was certain a huge draw for me for choosing the black dial over the white version. The combination of black on rose gold is seldom seen, but has a striking effect in person.

Thank you! I think ALS did great to bring this OG Saxonia back with the new movement and its modern power reserve.

Thank you! It's such a tactile feeling click, the only thing that comes close is the click of the chrono pusher on my Zenith A384 Revival. It's funny how ALS doesn't seem to get joked on for putting a "wart" at 10 o'clock on a dress watch, but Omega catches fire for (granted, a largely useless but historical) helium escape valve at the same position.
