Tornek-Rayville

Have any forum members pre-ordered a Tornek-Rayville? Looks like they have a website and a watch but unclear if they have delivered any. Watch looks great and would be fun to own but their website hasn’t had any updates and I haven’t seen any posting on the internet about anyone receiving a watch.

See their website now - orders open Q1 2022. I’m going to keep and eye on this.

Have any forum members preordered one of these? I don’t see any mention of deliveries.

Nice to see these types of releases. I think the sub $1k market is getting quite interesting. Seiko is a strong force of course, yet a growing market brings great pieces. Look fwd to feedback on this one.

No mention of accuracy tho, a timegrapher will fix that

Congratulations Randy,
How long ago did you order it? What are your initial thoughts?

Thank you. I did the pre-order on Feb. 11, 2020. It’s very well crafted, right in line with Bill Yao’s MkII standards. I really like its substantial feel on the wrist, not unlike the MkII Stingray in that regard. (As an aside, it wasn’t until I typed that last sentence that I realized the naming connection — Stingray and Rayville.) Do you plan on ordering one if he opens it up again this year?

Yes. I keep looking on the website to find out when he will accept orders. So you sent him $450 two years ago? Looks like it could replace my SKX as a travel and tool watch.

Sounds like a perfect replacement. Btw, yes, I sent the $450 in 2020 and then the balance of the other half in July (I think) 2021.

It is reminiscent of trying to source a Rolex from an AD!

Congrats! What type of bezel insert did you choose? Acrylic or aluminum?

Sorry, I missed your question a few days ago. I went with acrylic on the TR-660 reboot... because it evokes (by construction anyway) what we see on the original TR-900.
