What's the Consensus?

I found this watch posted on a watch site that shall go unnamed, but that is well-known here.

It is not for sale, but I'm still curious what the members here think of it.

It just doesn't look right to me, so I'm posting it here to get some opinions.

The rehaut looks odd. The bend in the first link definitely doesn’t look right.

I agree and the coronet on the dial seems all wrong, too.

I agree. It is a rank counterfeit.

Here is where it's posted.

based on the skin, i'm guessing he's probably in his 80s.... poor guy...probably paid a lot of money from a scammer. Shame on that person taking advantage of seniors.

I hope it's not the case that he paid big bucks for that watch.

I've known really old guys who've gotten fake watches from their globetrotting relatives.

I've never criticized them or questioned the watches when they would show them off to me.

Sad, really.

Or it was a gift from an unknowing/knowing relative. Either way pretty sad how people are being taken by these fakes.

I sent him a PM asking about the watch and he replied that he bought it from "a reputable watch exchange in Philadelphia" and that maybe the bad photo is the problem.

Well, maybe.

He said it was a few years ago, so it's probably a done deal now.

I would still contact the dealer and hear what they have to say. A reputable firm will stand by its products no matter how much time has transpired.

Uneven, badly finished lugs too. Guy probably thinks it's a 'really good' fake.. Which it probably is compared to the plated grey pot metal POSs from his younger years. His story of its apparent origin doesn't wash with me.

The guy is just kidding himself if he thinks that the watch is genuine. But I suspect he knows it is a fake.
