Daytona 116520 cream dial or error APH dial

Hi everyone,
I'm looking to buy a steel Daytona 116520 and trying to choose between two distinct versions and would value your trusted opinions on which is more desirable.
- Model year 2000-2002 with off white cream dial.
or
- The later version with error APH dial. If this version then would a chromalite dial from 2012 onwards be more desire than an earlier APH non chromalite? Black or white dial.

Many thanks.

Personally I would skip the 116520: go for the semi-vintage 16520 or the 116500LN.

I don't know about the term 'rarity' can be used for the cream modern Daytona 116520 as the white turn cream Daytona can be found from 2000 ( P series )-2005 ( F series).

As far as desirable 116520 Daytona, the fat hand cream or black would be the choice as they were made in very limited number during the 2005 transitional period. So look for a mid F serial black or white with fat hands. The skinny hands were from 2000- to mid 2005.

Hi Wiener, your cream dial looks stunning! Would love that.

TurboWatch, regarding the fat hands, were they not made until end of production in 2016?
Do you mean that the rarity is with respect to 2005 production year only as it was transition from thin hands?

Thanks everyone.

Cream are 2000-2005....and a lot of them have not turned cream yet so cream is a premium....aph are from 2009-2015 and it’s black and white dials....the true cream aficionados are going to want P serial which is a 2 year run at most....like most patrizzi fans want W serial....

The D serial (around 2006) Daytona, which came right after the F serial, all came with fat hands and new dial. This configuration continued with the Z, M, and scrambled Daytona (2015-2016). The F came with the older dial and skinny hands. Some of the later F came with the fat hands. These were always sold at a premium compared to the F skinny hands. I sold one on TZ back in 2009 and regretted selling it ever since.

Thank you everyone, I wasn't aware of the older and newer dials from F series 2006. Was there anything obvious in the design or configuration?

Looks like the dial was "cooked" in an oven. Did these so called creme dials originate in Italy?

John my cream dial was purchased by me, in 2000 and as far as I am aware the only true cream dials originate from that year. ( look at my Avatar ) 👍
