Made it to 1000th post

Well I just noticed I made it to 1000 post already. Boy that was quick! There was a time at the beginning when I could not stop posting. Often sticking my foot in my mouth and requesting post be removed. I was even called a d-bag which I agree after stepping on the outside and looking in. When you post on a site you offered to buy a watch from a guy in a store for over what he paid for it I can totally see how that would piss off some die hard watch guys haha.

I do not do social media. I have an Instagram page but that is only to look at watches and stuff. I do not have a Facebook page or anything so adjusting to this site often getting criticized it took some getting used to but I have finally adjusted. I appreciate the guidance and opinions of members. I have even met a few local members here in dallas, Texas. What I have taken from this site more than anything is the following .

Don’t get caught up in the hype ! At the end of the day it’s just a watch. Watches get hot and get cold. There is no reason to go and spend hard earned money to pay over retail for a watch. If your patient and just wait eventually you will get what you want. Why spend 8-10,000 over retail for a watch ? I am a successful small business owner and make what I consider great money. We live a great life and I have accomplished most my goals in life Turning 40 in 2 months. I have told myself that I knew I made it finacially when I couldn’t go anywhere and buy anything I want within reason. So with that being said why would I waste 8,000-10,000 on a watch when that could fund my kids college or go to my family when I pass to the other side some day.

With all that being said being on this site has saved me thousands and taught me a little patience. I did have some of the hot watches but chose to cash out and get my money back out. I opted to wait for my AD to get me what I want and pay retail. If I’m going to have a collection for my boys to pass down I want them with name on warranty card and all paperwork.

My collection consist of today
2 tone root beer
Explorer 2 polar
Datejust 41 blue dial jubilee with smooth bezel
2 tone sub blue face

All others I owned have been sold and I am just stacking all that cash waiting for others to come in that I can pay cash for with no debt. After all isn’t that the best kind of watch? The one you walk out of store and owe nothing on.

Once again thank you to all members who have commented good and bad. Special shout out to my boys chilly and Peter. I know I got pretty defensive with you guys at the beginning button guys were just letting me know what a dumb dumb I was being. Special shout out to watch nickname hater crusaders and to the punctuation police who like to comment on my sentence structuring and punctuation. Shout out to my encouraging members as well!

Only time will tell what the future holds for my collection but I look forward to the next 1000 post !

Congrats!

I don’t have any social media either, and this has been the first forum that I am active on (kind of active).

It’s a great place!

Congratulations! You’ve done pretty good since you’ve only joined TRF 4 months ago.

I’m nearly hitting the 1k mark as well.
