Tell me about the 753
I am historically a Rolex/Tudor/Omega kind of guy, with a Tag or two. I am trying to talk myself into a PAM. I understand the 753 is base, entry level model. I understand it is hand wound with a pressed case back. I'm not sure any of those issues bother me up front. I think my biggest issue is I don't visually see a significant difference between the 753 and the next step up for an additional $6K-ish. I do dig the blue 933, 42mm, at least photos anyway. However, I understand that is Boutique only piece and I am not anywhere near a boutique so that seems unlikely. Any insights are welcome. Thanks.

I’d shoot the gap between your choices and go for the 610. Classic looks and an 8-day movement for $5700 is a good value.

I just bought a 753 last month and love it! I wanted to get my feet wet with the brand first before going all out. I’m planning on picking up another one or two later this year. I’ve always been a Rolex/Omega guy myself.
I never understood the appeal behind Panerai and thought it was always hype. Boy, was I wrong! I went into a Rolex AD, but they didn’t have what I was after. So I decided to check out their Panerai selection. I slept on the 753 and pulled the trigger the following morning. Very happy with it. The snap case back doesn’t bother me at all. I actually enjoy the hand wind because you know it when it has 100% power reserve vs an automatic. The thing that took me the longest to get used to was no seconds hand. When in doubt if it’s working, just put it up to your ear and listen for the movement ticking. Just FYI, the P.6000 movement in the 753 (+/- 5) doesn’t keep time as well compared to my 3235 in my Rolex DJ41 (+/- 2). |

753 is a beautiful Radiomir and if you don’t mind the snap-on back, it’s a great choice.
Other Rads to consider are the 210, 232 and 249. |
