I personally prefer date on the 6 digits and no date on the 5 digits. So no right or wrong answer here.

Many people will say the no date looks better, but for me the date feature is just too useful. Gives me an extra excuse to look at my watch too!

Although I like both the Submariner and the Submariner Date, As far as I'm concerned they are both great iconic watches! However, I'm putting in my order to get the Submariner first. I'd like to get a Date later, but I am one who wears his watches and I am not big on having a queen. So I'll have to see when alternatively wearing an Explorer and the Submariner whether I have any wrist time left for a Date .
Of course the benefit of pairing the Explorer with the Submariner is that it is unnecessary to change the date at all :lol Have to admit that I really like having a Rolex on my wrist...and I don't like taking them off. So, for all those with the Submariners and the Submariner Dates I'm just going to say: Fill to me the parting glass. Good night and joy be with you all |

I appreciate the simplicity of no date. I like the Milgauss for this reason as well.

As with a lot of others, I could go either way. Date is nice, the uncluttered dateless dial is nice,
As "someone somewhere" posted at least once, they did not think a date was all that necessary on a diver's watch. I only have one watch with no date, the 214270. I find myself glancing at it once in a while to check the date and end up chuckling over the lack thereof. But I do not actually miss not having the date.

I believe it’s a forum thing. I purchased a no date thinking it was “classic”... however, I soon learned that there isn’t all that much classic about modern subs. They definitely have the pedigree of a sub, yet with a very modern twist. The no date lasted 6 months. I have my SubC now and would never look back. I always consider trading to a 5 dig but would never go back to no date unless it was a true vintage piece. I got a 58 to scratch that itch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

i have the sub date and love it. the ND i can understand the appeal as it is a very classic look. but the date function is very useful to me.

For me it depends on what else is in your rotation/collection. I loved my 2 line 14060M, but it got very little wrist time after I got my Explorer 214270. So I figured, I'd flip the no-date for an early 16610 for having the Date feature and I'm happy to have some variety.
The Sub Date is the simplest sports Rolex (with crown guard) if you don't need/want a GMT function or the bling of a Yachtmaster. If there was a more "subdued" YM without the polished lugs and centerlinks, I might have gone in that direction, but there isn't. |

I need the date on my Sub to help as I change watch batteries all day and set them for the customer (among other things). I wear my Explorer when I'm not worried about the date.

Either is amazing, with the date function is preferable to me and it would seem this is the view of the general population too. A purist may want the one with no date, I can see the attraction to a 5 digit non date, I would like one (again) myself.

I think both are great, if you have 1 watch go for Sub date, if you have other watches with dates... Sub ND.

I bought the Sub as at the time i wasn't a fan of the cyclops feature. The AD did offer to have it removed, but i plumped for No date.
Then bought SD as it was getting a pain not having the date and the SD fitted the bill with no cyclops, similar tool watch but with the date, win win. Fast forward a good few years and i love the cyclops on my DJ, probably because my eyesight wasn't what it was. Although i still enjoy the clean lines of the Sub |

Date for me. I like the ND but I like having a date watch and the cyclops is cool.

Submariner no date, specifically pre-ceramic.
Elegant lines. Classic proportion. Symmetrical dial. Oh and LUG HOLES! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If I could only have one sub, it would be with the date!

Both are nice, but I have a slight preference for the Sub, it also fits better in my collection;
Black Bezel GMT II no subdials has date, has cyclops Black Bezel SD4K. no subdials has date, no cyclops Black Bezel Sub. no subdials no date, no cyclops Black Bezel Daytona has subdials, no date no cyclops This makes sense to me. 99.96734% of people would think it’s nuts though.

If we're talking ceramic, I prefer date. But over any other sub I prefer a pre-ceramic no date 2 liner
