Watch Safe Recommendations please?

Apologies if this has been asked before; I did search but could not find anything pertinent.

Wondered what the best watch safes are for containing a 10 watch (Wolf) box or maybe some have the watch holders inside? Would be great if there was also room for a few other small items of value.

Thank you for any recommendations you can provide.

Over 800lb, top US brand and bolt to the floor in a hidden area. Last and not least it is going to be expansive so don’t be cheap since you will get what you pay for.

The problem with small safes, lock boxes and fire boxes is that they are portable. The bad guy just takes the whole thing and opens it at his leisure.

*** To open your run of the mill lock box / fire box, drop it on the corner from waist height on a hard surface - they will pop open when they hit the ground.

For real security, you need a real safe, what we in the US call a gun safe. They heavier the better and it should really be bolted down to prohibit access to the back and bottom (usually thinner steel).

I don't know about the UK, but in the US Ft Knox safes are considered top of the line, consumer level home safes. Avoid cheap safes - you get what you pay for.

What’s your budget, how secure does it need to be and do you need a specific cash rating? You can spend anywhere from £100 to £10000, fit it to the wall, bolt it to the floor or even bury it underground.

I have a 10 watch Wolf box too and it, along with some other stuff easily fits in my £200 Yale safe bolted to the floor. My personal opinion is that determined thieves with time (i.e. professionals) will get your stuff one way or the other, so I don’t worry about something I have no control over. But my safe will easily withstand an opportunist burglar, which is most of them.

Agree 100%. All you are trying to to do is slow them down and make it more difficult for them. Most bad guys are lazy and will move on to something / someone easier.

Hi,
I need the safe to be relatively small due to living in a small two bed old cottage in the country so no room for a big gun safe or such like.

The value of items to store is circa 50K if that helps.

What is the model of your Yale safe please and is it accredited TL-15 or above please?

Thank you for your help.

YSM/520/EG1

It only has a £2k cash rating though so doesn’t meet your requirements as it’s only rated to £20k for valuables. My insurer doesn’t mandate I actually use a safe so it doesn’t bother me.

You should probably check out safe.co.uk, at least to peruse what is on offer in your budget and size range. They deliver to anywhere in the U.K. (I think).

Watch Safe Recommendations please?

As another has said, you will need to assess your threats - whether it be fire, burglars or other calamity.

Here in US we have some ratings by Underwriters Laboratories, and a TL-30 small safe would cost between $3000-$4000.

That rating means the door successfully resist entry for 30 minutes when attacked with common hand tools, picking tools, mechanical or portable electric tools, cutting wheels and power saws. The fire ratings range from 30 minutes up to 2 hours. Usually weigh about 800 lbs.

And that is for a small safe that would barely fit a 10-watch winder.

There have been several discussions on the forum but you’d spend a lot of time finding them with keyword searches. Besides, the brand and model is meaningless unless it is stocked nearby. You can imagine the cost of shipping

My advice is to contact a nearby safe company and describe the threats you want to protect against. Then the space and floor loading you currently have. And lastly the interior cubic storage you want.

Buben & Zorweg if you’ve got enough cash for it in the first place.
Never thought I’d be drooling over the looks of a safe!

A Chubb or a Burton, good safes. If you need 50k jewellery cover then you need a 5k cash rated safe in the UK.

Company below seems to have good write up's. Get an idea of internal size needed and have a look for a good 2nd hand one. Plenty of companies in UK who do really good used ones.

For insurance purposes, whatever the cash rating of your safe you multiply by ten to get a valuables rating.
