Hello from Michigan

Hello, I just signed up here this morning. I was doing a bit of research online and found this place.

I have been a Rolex owner since getting my first, an Air King, in 1975 at the age of 19. That watch was lost in a burglary in 1985, and I bought myself a TT Datejust, which I sold at a modest profit a year later to finance an engagement ring for my wife.

Currently, I own two Rolexes. A GMT Master Ref 1675 that I bought in St. Thomas VI in 1978 for $450.00, which is currently on my wife's wrist, and a SS Datejust Ref 16200 with a plain bezel, white face and Jubilee bracelet that I bought in 1997. I'm not planning on buying any more Rolexes in the forseeable future, but I am looking forward to getting my GMT back as soon as I buy my wife something to replace it.

Thank you sir. By the way, my name is Ron. I'll get around to setting up my signature.

For the time being, here is a photo of my Datejust taken a couple years ago to test a new macro lens...

Welcome to TRF Ron. Better start cracking in getting your Rollie GMT since JJ has heard that the older versions are harder to find now.

Thanks for the advice Vernon. I had let my wife start wearing it a few years back when she tired of the ladies Date I bought her in '97 to match mine. They were our 10th anniversary presents to each other. Now she's thinking of something Cartierish. Go figure.

Anyways, I hear those old GMTs are worth a bit more than the $450 I paid for it in 1978. Could that possibly be true?

A 1675 worth $450? How would you like to get paid? That one is worth much more than that now. Maybe our resident 1675 expert Mike can chime in and help you out with that.

How about some pics of it?

Oh yeah, welcome to TRF Ron

Thanks for the warm welcome. I will try to sneak that GMT off my wife's wrist and get some photos to share.

I'm planning on keeping it for the long haul and someday giving it and my Datejust to my two sons, but I am curious what the 1675 is worth these days.

Hi, Ron and welcome to TRF. That's a beautiful Datejust you have there, thanks for posting the pic. As far as getting the GMT back, well, it's all about bribery. Maybe an anniversary band?

How about a broken wrist so she can't wear it

Hi, it's me again. Haven't posted in three months, but today I received something worth a new post.

This is the Anniversary Submariner that I won in a raffle. Yep, I won it.

And here is a newer photo of my Datejust ...

Still trying to get the GMT back.

Congrats on the 1675. Indeed the 1675 will fetch a bit more than you paid for it. LOL! Depending on condition they seem to go in the range of 3 to 4K for a nice with with B&P.

Nice pickup!
I've got to get into the right raffles! I think the last thing I won at a raffle was $50 bucks
