Serial nr Rolex 5513

Hi there,

I was offered a Rolex 5513 with a beautiful Mark 3 lollipop dial and a razor-sharp case (looked like new with the factory chamfers in tact). One 'issue'; the case nr. is a 4.7 million and according to online information the mark 3 dial starts appearing only halfway the 5 million range (1978).

Question: Is a 4.7 million case necessarily a service case (which could potentially explain its condition), or could it also be an earlier 1976 case?

No, they did not add 47xxxx serials later, they, along with 44xxxx's, are set aside and were only used as service replacements.

Thanks! I had doubts as this 4.7 mln engraving has the 'period correct font' instead of the distinctive 'service font' as I found it online. But this helps!
