Wear the 1680 whenever I'm dressed for work wearing good clothes, wear the Omega SMPC whenever I'm knocking around on the weekend or at home. No need to damage the 1680s crystal working in the yard for no reason when I've got a sapphire Omega to take the hits.

Have had my Sub for 40 years and 2 days -- and it's been a daily wearer for much of that time! And it's a 'working' watch as well, including scuba diving. We were down 78' two weeks ago.

I only own vintage - four of them - rotate them every day but mostly wear my 1929 Oyster 14k Rose Gold with the red alligator band. LOVE IT.

Lots of great posts and excellent sentiments, thanks for taking the time, all of you. One thing I'd like to remind the community of is the very great strides in refurbishment that have been made in just the last twenty years, and how very likely this trend is to continue. We have the most wonderful and kind (bulk-sparing) abrasives available to us now for minor polishing and touch-up. We have superior acrylic crystals, some that resemble sapphire so closely it's hard to tell. And most of us take great delight in refurbishing or having refurbished for us an interesting vintage example. Who are we to deprive future generations of this pleasure? Why shouldn't some poor schmuck pry the non-working beater off my mouldering bones sometime in the future and then throw it in the nano-press for total rebuild? With lasers and CAD/CAM where they are today, you'll be able to take a scan of your mid-case, make whatever corrections you need, and have the exact duplicate carved out of your choice of stainless alloy in your own garage. That technology isn't far away at all, maybe 10 years. Look at how the lasers made dial repainting so weirdly awesome. So, having said all that, yes, I wear my vintage pieces, until they hit a certain dollar value, at which point I mentally label them "special occasions only" and put them back in the safe for good. Some of the 1940s Breitlings and Universals that look great on me aren't as sturdy as the vintage Rolex that I don't have to worry about as much.

I currently don't have a vintage Rolex or a Rolex for that matter but I only have vintage as well which I rotate. I Rotate between my late 40s tissot bumper 10k gf and my 14k early 50s lord Elgin. I also have a very sentimental vintage 1968 timex waferthin, however it is currently in storage in non working Condition and awaiting funds for a full movement rebuild, and a new crystal.

Quite the bump right here!
I do not own vintage Rolex watches (unless my 1986 16013 is considered vintage, I've never had an answer to that question) but I do own a vintage chronograph as well as a 1930's cushion watch. I wear them both in rotation with my other watches every week and can spend days with them on my wrists.

Yes, have a few vintage Rolex, Omegas and Seikos that are worn daily for week at a time when they come up in rotation.

Yuuuuuuuuuuuuup!
(ca. 1978) 5513 - all day, everyday. I even sleep in it. My wife wears my (ca. 1958) 6552 Air King daily, too. These things aren't meant to be hidden away. |

Yes, most definitely do. I've had my 1680 from new in '79 and I make sure I wear it every week since then. Even though we've grown old(er) together all these years it's aged better than me so it will outlast me for sure...It's been used and abused, through college, sports, the army and so forth. What's best is that a little care and they're like they left the factory. The more the years pass, the more I apreciate this brand to the point that I now prefer only vintage (now added an even older, birthyear 1675 to the stable). More character as far ad I'm concerned in vintage, plus durability to boot...

Vintage wear...
I wear my transitional 1980's submariners to the office 5 days a/week. On weekends I wear my more vintage 1966 Tudor Submariner. I like having the date complication on my wrist. I was in a store last weekend, picking up produce when someone asked me for the date- It reminded me why I like the date Subs.
On the plus side, the vintage Tudor is lighter, has vintage lighter bracelet, so it's a keeper as well...

Does the lack of the quickset date feature bother you...? i tried on a mint 1680 at Tourneau- It took more than a few minutes to set the date, and I felt like I was adding wear to the watch....

Before they were "vintage" they were usually worn everyday. So that's what I do as well :-)
