sports/outdoors/military watch
Hey all, I'm looking for a great outdoors/sports/military watch, but I'm not very knowledgable about watches, so could you please give me some recommendations that I could look at.
The watch I'm looking need to be rugged, have an alarm function, chronograph functions (it could both time duration of events, or set to a certain time), month/week calendar, and could adjust automatically to different timezones; a compass or gps is prefered, but not necessary. I'm looking to spend around 1 grand on it. Thanks |

Welcome aboard Bennie. Guys, Bennie is my friend who is new to the watch scene. If anyone can help him out, more than appreciated. Thanks

A Casio G-Shock would give everything but the compass/GPS. Hmm.

I will also highly recommend a G-Shock as well. I just got a Mudman G-Shock, and it's the most durable watch I have ever owned. If you do a quick search on you-tube, you will see some of the tests that the G-Shocks can endure.

Yup! G-Shock will the job.
Except the GPS/compass functions. |

my thought was also a G-shock (and there are those triple sensor versions with compasses) but you should also look at some Suunto models...though may be not as tough as the king of sports/outdoor (G-shock), they are different and I guess have all these features as well..
happy hunting and welcome to the forum |

Thank you all very much for the help! So, I guess G Shock is the way to go, but I also have found some other cool watches online.
I did look at the Suuntos watches, but the reviews are generally medicore due to their lack of ruggedness (a lot of people say their dial covers fall off). Another watch I saw was the Citizen's Skyhawk in their eco-drive line of watches. It looks really nice, but does it have any real problems or issues? |

Depends who you ask. The early reviews for the Ecodrive were mixed at best- Citizen hadn't worked the kinks out of the mechanism yet. They've greatly improved, though.
