Casio G-Shock GW-3000 series

Evenin' all....

I fancy a new beater that's a bit different my usual automatic Divers/Seiko Monsters although I'm not really into the whole 'digital display' thing.....

So any thoughts on these G-Shocks guys....??

& more specifically their lume (ie: the 'neobrite'/'illuminator' effectiveness) ??

&/or the quality of the casio bracelet (ie: is it worth GBP£100 more than the rubber strap....??).

As ever all advice greatly appreciated: Thankyou.

(P.S Blue is GW-3000BD-1AER on bracelet listing at a RRP of GBP£300, & Orange is the GW-3000B-1AER at GBP£200 on a rubber strap.)

** disclaimer **
I don't have a GW-3000 (yet), but here's what I heard about it and from my experience with other G-Shocks

I like the the GW3000, it being a all analog multi function watch. i've read that the lume is decent. but its not to compare with Omega SMP or Seiko divers. and Casio is certainly not famous for their lume.

The GW3000 is a pretty big watch with bold styling. if you could, try one on and see if the watch size is "too big" for your wrist size.

from my experience with metal bracelet of G-Shocks, except for the MRG, the SS bracelet usually has folded links, which still fell decently solid and well built. and they uses small springbars to hold the links together.

what i didn't like about the GW3000 is the 24min STW. that's just not enough for timing most task. i can't even use it to time my 10k run ... LOL

And it has a what Casio called tough movement, which uses LED technology to (re-)align the hands if they are off with strong magnetism or shocks. its a good feature, but i think the "G-Shock" can take a beating, so i don't know if a tough movement is actually a "useful" feature. but who wouldn't want over enginerring ;-)

its a good model, but i prefer all digital models for now (at least until Casio makes a easy to read all analog chrono movement that times at least 12 hr)

** oh, i think the tough movement can take up to 11 g? but i think i will be passed out long before that ... LOL **

I say jump in with both feet Dan.

Looks like a very sharp watch. I have an old G-Shock watch and it has been through hell and back and still does the job. I only got about 15 years out of the battery so keep that in mind.

I have the orange model. It looks great and is comfortable to wear. The lume is not super bright but is good (I can still read the time after 7 hours). The alarm function works well as does the world time function.
The stopwatch however is next to useless, 24 minutes and very hard to read.
That said I love the watch and for me it is a keeper.
As to the price, try ebay. I got mine used but in mint condition with box and manual for £85.

Kia ora Dan,

I actually looked at both of those models a few months back when I was shopping for my own G-Shock. While I liked the overall size of the watch (btw it's a beast), I found the dial to be a little too busy. And as others have mentioned the near to useless stopwatch was the last straw so to speak. A stopwatch was must for me. Anyway, I ended up settling on these two.

G-SHOCK RISEMAN Men in Mat Black MULTIBAND 6 GW-9200MBJ-1JF

G-SHOCK GW-7900B-1JF
