What do you think?

Some of you may have seen this, but most probably not.
Ok, had to do a fashion shoot as a favour recently, and in between
set-ups I just snapped away and took this one of our model, Adele. There's a bit of post-processing on this one, mainly to bring out the highlights and bring the exposure down slightly.

I like it as a dreamy sort of shot. Thoughts?

Excellent shot, Otis. I can't wait until JJ weighs in, though! Oh yeah - he already has in another thread!

Hi Otis,

I can see the effect you have created but to be absolutely brutal. It reminds me of some of the pictures I have done when the sun has been in the wrong position. Although there's nothing wrong with it, my preference would have been to have the light on Adele's face rather than the background. I'm no expert just a personal view.

Jeez... talk about brutal!

I can see what you mean. I prefer when they're properly backlit, and I'm not sure where the heck the sun was here! This one was just an accident that I liked. The original was at least 3 stops over too....Boy the sun was just merciless that day.

Thanks though! I'll end by saying... I hate natural light....I need a bit more experience with it to be confident

or even crazier

PS.
I am in no way implying that your original picture needs work. I simply have a problem with Photoshop. Very much like JJ and sheeps, I can not stop doing it once I see a picture I like.

Hey, thanks Chip!

I like them, gives it a bit of a 40's noirish quality, very nice.

BTW.... I love shooting in RAW. There is actually some latitude! I was impressed.

But the one drawback with digital I found.... the ugly digital blob you get with some lens flares & extreme halation. Yuck...
