I am not a runner but walk 4 miles a day most every day. I do wear some of my sport Rolex watches on occasion but typically I use a Seiko. I am hooked on the re-release of the Arnie which has a stopwatch function.

How do you find it on the leather? I've seen a post or two about how Daytona's look on leather, NATO etc... there have always been mixed opinions.

Actually the other day there was a thread, is it safe to run with a Rolex? I figured I'd never seen a photo of someone's Rolex while running. Difficult to take a shot actually showing what's going on.

The blue rubber looks nice with your YM! Everest or RubberB?

Love this Ironman. I had a few versions that saw me through 10 years of competitive track & triathlon in my 20s. No GPS, Bluetooth or social media connectivity to distract you from your workouts, just two buttons and off you go!

Not a Rolex (yet) but my Tudor joins me on every walk/run/ride/adventure. Usually on a NATO when mountain biking though, nothing beats up your wrist like a metal bracelet.

I’ll do the same once I get a Rolex. They’re made for this stuff.

I've worn my sub running but don't really like to. The metal bracelet gets slimy with sweat and slides around some. Just kind of distracting.

Wore my GF's fitness tracker watch the other week for a run and that was kind of cool. Fun being able to see my heart rate and it weighs practically nothing.

I need data regarding my effort and training that a Rolex or any mechanical watch can't provide. I conduct my fitness training with a Fenix 6 to help me monitor my training so I can adjust my effort, duration or specific workout in real time.

But if all you're doing is running with no set goal except to get out and move, I suppose a Rolex or any other watch would do. The rubber definitely helps with the weight and sweat, next run we'll need to see the Platona in action which actually would be better for timing.

Good for you! I'm in the same camp. After much research and many disappointments with cheaper watches, I recently bought a 16600 Sea-Dweller specifically for running and surfing. I keep it on a NATO and didn't even size the bracelet to force myself to use it for what I bought it for--a true tool watch. So far I really enjoy using it and the place it occupies in my collection.

As for the functionality, the timing bezel is a perfect tool for timing long distance runs for me and I personally prefer it to a chrono

Is it ok to just walk down the street wearing you Rolex? I always look where I’m going and I always cross the street if I see a naughty man.

I am uncomfortable exercising with a Rolex. I use an Apple Watch for that. Although I did wear it to Disney last week and walked 13,000 steps, in 95°, with a mask on! So I don’t want to come off as too much of a hypocrite!

The Everest strap is nice with the Daytona. I really like it!!! Each to their own but for me it's very comfortable.

I wear my Fitbit Charge 4 on my other wrist always. I get plenty of data.

I just like the simplicity of a simple time check and not having to screw with the tracker. I switched from my Garmin when their data banks tanked. I'm happy wearing a Rolex and a fitness tracker.

13,000 steps is a light day for me. I know from my tracker. More typically 16,000.
