Which WATCH are you sleeping with and why?
So here’s my question: For those of you who sleep with your watch on - which WATCH is your preferred bedtime partner and why?
I was intrigued by the TRF members who say that they sleep with their watches on. Since making my Sub 114060 my 24 hour companion, I was surprised to find I sleep a bit better. ( No more activating my iphone screen to check the time during the night..... ) PS: This is my second attempt at the topic. |

To each his own I suppose. I tried to wear a watch to bed one time and found I would roll over onto it and cut off circulation to my hand. It was uncomfortable. I recommend giving the wrist a break for a few hours each day.

I’m looking to buy an Explorer ( should my AD come through ) - and I can see why that might be the ultimate “sleeping watch”. Slim, legible, big-ish face. BUT, I see people responding throughout the years with big offerings? I’m vaguely curious if it is only people wearing their watch 24 hours OR if they change watches during the evening......

When it comes to bed time I usually just get under the covers with the one I'm with. Kind of a floozy that way. I admit to having a preference for the larger lumes on my YM over those on my Daytonas in the heat of the night.

The just started my watch off at night. If it’s dark close your eyes. If it’s light and you want to then get up.

I will sleep with any watch in my collection except dress (or at least dressier) watches. Mainly because
- Not in the standard location - Mostly worn out in dressier situations - Typically switch back to a sports watch when back at home from whatever event required the dressier watch to begin with... So whichever is on the wrist when I get tired is the one I sleep with. |

I wish I could do that! I think I’m instinctively looking for the time when I wake up - I didn’t even realize it. I literally started wearing it at night because of posts here, just for fun, and was genuinely surprised that it makes a difference.

Maybe there should be a “sleep watch” category in our collections; dress, dive, sleep, suit, activity, beater etc

Sorry cannot see any point in wearing any watch in bed.

If I’m not alone - and others find sleeping with a watch on is actually a help - then: Does that mean those of us who wear glasses need bigger dials? Are thinner watches better? Are dive watches better because you bezel-set when you went to bed? Maybe it is all silly, and most of us just drop off with whatever? But maybe there’s another category - watches you’d never sleep with? Is a DSSD JC too big for bed? |

Wouldn’t be a good idea to sleep with a leather strap. SS bracelet is best. PM can be a bit heavy on a hot night.

I usually don’t wear a watch to bed. However, if I do, it’s a Casio DW5600-BB, and the AE1200 World Time. There both light and comfortable.

That’s what I thought! I’d only worn one, before, because I was somewhere atypical or just fell asleep without thinking.
So - after giving it a try with my Sub for fun - the fact that it seems to make a difference in how I sleep was a surprise! I’ve been floating this topic around in a highly unscientific survey of my friends. People are using their phones as their bedside clocks. When you wake up and check the time, they are getting worked “all teh way up” because of the light. Or worse, your bedside clock is now some little Amazon device shooting light in your face. A lumed watch stops this..... |

DSSD every night. Very light sleeper and instant know what time it is without fully waking up to look at phone on night stand.

Very interesting actually and just sent me down a rabbit hole. I slept with an Apple Watch for a while (which was fine in terms of comfort) so that I could set the haptic alarm and turn the sound off. This way I would wake up but it wouldn’t wake my wife up. The drawback was like mentioned - the light when you check it in the middle of night is like a red rag to the brain. Let alone if you have a notification. So in terms of comfort and practicality I’m thinking a rubber strap with an alarm? JLC Memovox? Or going for small size and a timing bezel maybe a Tudor mini-sub on a nato or rubber. Fun topic. Maybe it doesn’t just have to be the best looking ones you’d sleep with Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Might seem bizarre but I like to see what time it is if I wake up in the night and so I wear my unusually large G Shock which lights up well at night.

But I don’t find the light of a G-Shock to be nearly the neural-electroshock of an apple watch or an iphone. Plus, using a hybrid-analog like yours might make even more sense. I wonder if a solar Seiko Tuna might not be like a sleep-optimized choice? Big but comfy? |

Anything with lume works for me. Nice to wake up and know what time it is without reaching for my phone, putting on glasses, rolling over and waking up wife/dogs etc etc.
