AUGUST SURPRISE? - DAYTONA "Monterey Edition"

First of all, this is a hypothetical offering and poll designed to foster discussion and debate. If you don't like discussing model variations or you don't like polls, don't bother participating.

What IF Rolex were to offer their classic TT Daytona on a Jubilee bracelet? Do you like it? Would you buy it? Do you hate it? Is it blasphemy? Thoughtful comments and fun discussion welcome.

EVERY SUMMER, GLOBAL CAR ENTHUSIASTS AND AMERICA’S BEAU MONDE GATHER ON THE PACIFIC COAST TO CELEBRATE THE HERITAGE AND TRADITION OF THE AUTOMOBILE.

TRADITIONALLY HELD IN AUGUST OF EACH YEAR, MONTEREY CLASSIC CAR WEEK IS COMPOSED OF A SPECTACULAR ARRAY OF AUCTIONS, TOURS AND CONCOURS, ALL HELD IN THE BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS OF THE MONTEREY PENINSULA, CALIFORNIA. ROLEX HAS SUPPORTED THIS HERITAGE EVENT SINCE 1997, WHEN THE SWISS WATCH BRAND FIRST PARTNERED WITH THE PEBBLE BEACH CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE®. THIS YEAR'S EVENT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO 2021, BUT ROLEX CELEBRATES THE RICH HERITAGE OF MONTEREY CLASSIC CAR WEEK WITH A COMMEMORATIVE PIECE FOR 2020:

THE OYSTER PERPETUAL COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA “MONTEREY EDITION” IN YELLOW ROLESOR, WITH A BLACK DIAL AND A JUBILEE BRACELET, FEATURES AN 18 CT YELLOW GOLD BEZEL AND ENGRAVED TACHYMETRIC SCALE.

I personally like it. After wearing the BLNR on jubilee, I am now a believer.

Possibly, but would probably prefer a TT Ceramic.

I'm not a fan of TT so I'm not a buyer, but I think it looks great.

I've never been... but Monterey is an incredible place to be in August. [Correction: I’ve been to Monterey, but haven’t attended any of these events.]

Here are a few helpful links:

So many activities and events.

Very nice, I really like it. Also, would like to see it with a slate dial.

Wow, so far over half don’t like it.

I'm sure that someone had a photo of a SS Daytona on a jubilee bracelet and I thought that it looked quite good.

TT/YG is not the most loved version of the Daytona... so, not too surprising.

We raced Laguna Seca for a week back in 2014.

For the Historics, I’d say a TT Daytona chassis, shod with Jubilee 5-link bracelet, with a full diver clasp (to fit over SFI racing gloves cuff) is just right.

Price it at 55K to sift out the riff-raff
