Backwards Second Hand

Jenni Elle posted a new video yesterday and at 9:03 the seconds hand on the Patek Philippe 5930/1G seem to be going backwards. I'm new to PP, and have not seen this complication before. Is it a video mistake or is that really a feature, and if so, what's the point?

must be a video editing blip, lots of people film b roll and then show it in reverse. [ive seen it being done a lot lately with drones, makes it look like they’re driving really fast through narrow gaps going backwards] usually works fine but in this case it does look odd since you can see the second hand moving in the opposite direction.

No, it’s the new self adjusting system. The piece monitors when it’s gained time and then once a day reverses the direction until the time is back in sync again. Pretty smart stuff.

i’ve noticed that too on my speedmaster, i think it’s normal on non-hacking movements. whether it’s bad for the movement or not i am not sure of, my guess is it’s fine but i’ve read conflicting opinions. some people recommend it as a way to accurately set the time down to the second with non-hacking movements and others say it could damage the movement.
