Blancpain x Swatch

Looks like FF is next. Interesting move. As a big fan of Blancpain I am excited to see what they come up with and how it helps introduce the FF to the wider public. Could also point to BP offering a smaller version (perhaps the 42mm) as a regular production model. The 45mm is just too big for most, regardless of how awesome it is.

I can’t post links apparently but a simple google search is all that’s needed.

Very interested in this colab/release. I wonder if there will be multiple models, each representing a different ocean. Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic and Southern. Would love to buy one. However I live nowhere near a swatch boutique 😔. Oh well, guess we have a week until we find out.

Interesting, let see if it will have any water resistant rating like the FF

If true has to be automatic, as Blancpain says they have and will not ever produce quartz.

Hope they will do a decent size... and not use the 44mm regular FF model and if no quartz.. Sistem 51 perhaps? Cant wait to see what comes... which model would they deem "iconic"? Unless they go for the more interesting options like mil spec no rads etc.

I think Bathyscaphe, 43mm — easier model to adapt as no sapphire bezel

Would make sense as I feel like the sapphire bezel is one of the key elements to the FF, other than the 430 date or brand name engraved on the side case.

Am interested to see what comes out, I wouldnt mind a mil spec FF or no rad FF either

Could be bathy, but it’s not as legendary as the FF, and the crown in the preview is a FF one with 8 ridges. Agree that trying to recreate the unique elements of FF will be much harder than with the Speedy.

Well, it's a Swatch, just like the Moonswatches, I think it is up to Swatch to decide what to put into it. My guess is that it will be quartz.

I see the Moon swatches as a Swatch with Omega design elements, this will have Blancpain design elements but still be a Swatch.

What a sellout. One more formerly serious horological brand bites the dust.

I quite like the idea of brand exposure though, it seems proven that Omega has definitely benefits from the moonswatch craze and have even capture those people who were previously not that into watches!

Its time for BP to have some of the limelight I feel

My guess is Blancpain will make a new Fifty Fathoms in 42.3mm size.

They have already brought out the first 2 Acts for this year. A third Act is imminent.

Well said and agree. They are using their Swatch brand as an entry into.... It should, at the least, help bring familiarity to their other brands with the general public. i like this idea far better than what Richemont has been doing.

Would make sense. One thing I like about BP is they do whatever they want to do unlike many other brands chasing current hypes. They know 40mm / 42mm would sell like crazy. But they don’t care (or haven’t until now) to make it a standard production model. Unless they cut the 45mm line I also don’t see how any 42mm non LE edition wouldn’t have massive wait times regardless. I have the 70th edition and hardware wise, everything about that watch is perfect. My black sub date (12xxxx) is most likely never going back on the wrist again, feels like a massive downgrade.

I'll buy one for sure.....the £208 I spent on my Moonswatch great was bang for buck!

I've come around to believing a fella only needs one good Swiss watch......the rest can be fun purchases, like my recently acquired Citizen pro master tough, which like the Swatch, has given me lots of enjoyment for not much money.

I loved that the FF was a diver that either:

1. Hard core divers wore
2. Hard Core watch fans wore

The lack of popularity is what made the FF appealing to me. Well, that and an absolutely gorgeous bezel and clean dial. I understand TSG wants to ignite the brand but this just seems silly.

What's next?
Swatch Reverso?
Swatch Marine or Type XX?
Swatch Panomatic Lunar?

Swatch reverso would be pretty sweet. Ha. Jk.

It is an interesting thought because if swatch just wanted to get more $$$ out of BP, they would do majority of FFs in 40/42mm and there would be a waiting list for all of them. Maybe their goal is just to sell a ton of plastic trinkets. But to your point, BP is largely unknown to non watch enthusiasts; this isn’t like the moons watch. Although with a bit of marketing and instagram hype, this could also end up going crazy.

Seems like there will be 5 parts to this - one for each ocean?
