Ap question

Anyone have any hand on experience with this bad boy?

I live in St. Louis and the closest I can come to seeing one in person is Chicago!

Sucks.

Just like any other AP, amazing!!!!!

Just be aware of the fact that the only AD in Chicago is 'Swiss Fine Timing' on Michigan Avenue and they have the worst attitude, no to mention that they are very ignorant about the brand.

By the way, Chicago Diamond Center is selling an AP RO Chrono like the one on Thomas wrist. Not sure about the price but Phil Sino (owner) is a great guy.

Good luck!

Agreed. When I called them about B1 water test they were not helpful at all.

I just find it hard to believ there is nobody in the a 300 mile radius that sells these things. We are in a "flyover" state, but people need their AP!

I just feel like I have to try it on before I drop that sort of coin.

The feel is really important to me. Tried on the daytona (I have a Milgauss GV) and I was underwhelmed. Dont get me wrong, it is a beautiful watch, maybe my expectations were just to high.

Disagree with this. I've bought a few watches from Christine in their downtown Chicago location & found her to be extremely knowledgeable. Their prices were good, and they have a great brand selection: Journe, AP, Breguet, Blancpain, etc.

If you are coming in from St. Louis call ahead and try to make arrangements to bypass the sales staff and work with the store manager. They have more stock in their Highland Park location, so consider asking them in advance to bring the RO chronos to the Chicago store & save yourself an extra 40 minute drive.

By the way that's one of my grail watches.

Can't say the same. I've been there twice and they didn't know what I was talking about. I've been collecting AP since 1998 and it seemed like I was speaking Chinese to them. Not to mention the interrogation process asking me about where I purchased my ROO, when, how much, etc. Also they didn't even know that early ROOs have a different type of clasp (like on mine) and tried to make me feel like mine wasn't real. Come on!!! Plus why do they need to know all these things???

For AP watches, you need to try it on yourself before purchase as the SS bracelet is quite "rigid" and may not fit your wrist.

Sorry you had a bad experience. They get bad reviews on yelp as well. However I've gotten 2 great deals there now and they've got some beautiful watches that you can't see anywhere else in the region.

I bought my Panerai from Swiss Fine Timing and had a great experience with them. I walked in and told him my budget and even though AP's were out of my budget the guy who helped me still let me try them on and was more than happy to show them to me. I've read a couple bad things about them, but from my personal experience it was great and I would recommend them.

BTW, I'm in Des Moines so I drove all the way to Chicago just to look at Panerai. I'd say make the trip and enjoy it. Good luck on the AP!
